The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya to be part of "Spotlight Asia!" series

Bandai Entertainment announced that The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya film will be playing with English subtitles at the Kahala Theatre in Honolulu on October 29. The film will be screened as part of the theatre's “Spotlight Asia!” series.

The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya adapts the fourth volume from Nagaru Tanigawa and Noizi Ito's original light novel series about an eccentric, assertive girl named Haruhi who creates her own school club for her strange antics. The film follows the story of Haruhi's sudden disappearance and the attempts by a club member, Kyon, to find out why she vanished.

The movie opened in 24 Japanese theaters on February 6, and it earned the equivalent of US$7,479,561 after eight weekends at the end of March. Bandai Entertainment licensed the two previous television seasons of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and the related anime spinoffs. Bandai Namco Games is releasing a game that is set after the film on the Sony PSP and PlayStation 3 consoles in Japan next year.

The Kahala Theatre is located in the Kahala Mall Shopping Center at 4211 Waialae Avenue, Suite 3080, Honolulu, Hawaii.
