Japanese Box Office, October 23-24

Umizaru: The Last Message, the third live-action film based on Shuho Sato's manga about the Japanese Coast Guard, rose from #2 to #1 on Kogyo Tsushinsha's box chart. On Box Office Mojo's chart, it earned the equivalent of US$2,524,823 on 467 screens in its sixth weekend. It now has a total of US$84,665,385.
The Lady Shogun and Her Men, the live-action film adaptation of Fumi Yoshinaga's Ōoku: The Inner Chambers manga, stayed at #5 in its fourth weekend. It made US$1,334,315 on 311 screens for a gross-to-date of US$21,753,583.
The live-action film adaptation of Karuho Shiina's Kimi ni Todoke romantic comedy manga stayed at #7 on Kogyo Tsushinsha's chart. In its fifth weekend, it added US$859,294 on 285 screens to its total of US$15,511,091.
The animated adaptation of Tatsuya Miyanishi's You Are Umasou (Omae Umasou Dana) dinosaur picture book dropped from #10 to #11 in its second weekend. It added US$336,706 on 162 screens for a gross-to-date of US$829,823.
Mobile Suit Gundam 00 the Movie: A Wakening of the Trailblazer, the sequel to the two Mobile Suit Gundam 00 television series, dropped from #13 to #14 with US$104,813 on 35 screens. After its sixth weekend, it now has a total of US$8,788,663.
Hiromasa Yonebayashi and Studio Ghibli's The Borrowers (Karigurashi no Arrietty) anime film slipped from #14 to #15 during its 15th weekend. The movie earned US$99,059 on 304 screens to add its total of US$110,013,058.
