posted on by Egan Loo

Tatsuya Sawaguchi, a 26-year-old guard from the central Japanese city of Fujieda, was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly shoplifting all 64 volumes of the One Piece pirate manga. According to the authorities, Sawaguchi carried the manga, in a big bag hanging from his shoulder, from a bookstore in a shopping center in nearby Shimada City on December 23 at around 7:45 p.m. The entire series is worth about 26,000 yen (about US$340). Sawaguchi reportedly said under deposition that he intended to resell the books.
