ZEXCS's 'Aruvu Rezuru' Replaces Pierrot Short in Anime Mirai

posted on by Egan Loo

The Anime Mirai program announced on Monday that one of its four anime projects for next year has been changed. Anime Mirai had announced in June that the anime studio Pierrot would be making a short called "TV Kazoku Channel Jacker" (TV Family Channel Hijacker). Anime Mirai will now support ZEXCS's "Aruvu Rezuru - Kikai Jikake no Yōsei-tachi-" (Aruvu Rezuru - Mechanized Fairies) short instead.

The story of "Aruvu Rezuru" takes place in 2022 when humanity is accelerating towards the technological singularity — the advent of computers that surpass humans. Nano-technology has advanced to the point where humans can seamlessly link to networks, but many become lost in an event called the "Early Rapture." Remu Mikage (played by Jun Fukuyama) goes to take back the soul of his little sister Shiki (Eri Kitamura), who disappeared in net space.

Under the Anime Mirai program, the Japan Animation Creators Association (JAniCA) receives money from the Japanese government's Agency for Cultural Affairs, and it distributes most of those funds to studios who will train young animators on-the-job.

Studio Trigger announced that the website for the Anime Mirai project was updated on Thursday with a piece of key visual art for the studio's "Little Witch Academia" short. The website also has art for the other studios' projects as well: Gonzo's "Ryo," "Aruvu Rezuru," and MADHOUSE's "Death Billiards."
