Hiroyuki Eto returns to parody of early fantasy RPGs after 2 TV anime, 1 film

Manga creator Hiroyuki Eto revealed in the final installment of his Buyūden Kita Kita manga on Thursday that he will launch the Mahōjin Guru Guru 2 (Magical Circle Guru Guru 2) series on Square Enix's Gangan Online website on November 1. The announcement features the hero Nike and the mage Kukuri from Eto's original Mahōjin Guru Guru fantasy manga series.

In the first Mahōjin Guru Guru manga, Eto took his affection for early role-playing games and turned it into a gag parody manga series. The manga ran in Monthly Shōnen Gangan magazine from 1992 to 2003. The adventures of Nike and Kukuri inspired a popular 1994-1995 television anime series, which in turn spawned a 1996 film and a 2000 sequel called Doki Doki Densetsu Mahoujin Guru Guru.

Eto debuted Buyūden Kita Kita, a Guru Guru spinoff about a comical dancing old man from the original manga, when Gangan Online launched in 2008.
