Shout! Factory to Release Gaiking Anime on DVD

Toei Animation and North American video distributor Shout! Factory have confirmed with ANN that Shout! Factory will release an "abridged version" of the classic 1976 robot anime series Gaiking on DVD. The "Gaiking: The Collection" two-DVD set will ship on January 15, 2013. Shout! Factory could not confirm any further details of the upcoming release with ANN at this time.
In 2009, William Winckler Productions, Toei Animation, and Rioloco Productions confirmed that they were creating three English-dubbed compilation films from the original 44-episode television anime series. Shout! Factory has not confirmed if the abridged version of its release will be these three films.
Toei Animation began streaming the 39-episode Gaiking: Legend of Daikū-maryū 2005 remake series on Hulu last year.
Shout! Factory also confirmed with ANN that it will release Hasbro Studio's Kaijudo: Rise of the Duel Masters American-produced television animation series. The series is based on the Duel Masters trading card game. In Japan, Duel Masters has spawned nine television anime series since 1999. Shout! Factory will release the first DVD in the series containing the first five episodes on December 4 for US$14.97.
