Fumiyo Kono Draws 'Hijiyama-san no Mimi' One-Shot Manga
posted on by Egan Loo
Manga creator Fumiyo Kōno (Town of Evening Calm, Country of Cherry Blossoms, To All The Corners Of The World) ran a one-shot story called "Hijiyama-san no Mimi" (Hijiyama-san's Ear) in Kodansha's Morning magazine on Thursday. The story follows a protagonist in the newspaper club and the titular character in the art department. Hijiyama-san is a fan of Van Gogh who, for some reason, injured an ear.
Last Gasp Publishing and jaPRESS released Kono's manga Town of Evening Calm, Country of Cherry Blossoms in North America. Her manga series To All The Corners Of The World inspired a live-action television special starring Keiko Kitagawa (live-action Sailor Moon's Sailor Mars, Paradise Kiss) as Suzu Urano in 2011. Anime director Sunao Katabuchi (Mai Mai Miracle, Black Lagoon) was planning an anime film of the manga also.
