Hiroshi Kamiya, Saori Hayami reprise roles in story about Yotsugi premiering December 31

Aniplex began streaming the second promotional video for Tsukimonogatari (Possession Story), the anime of the first story in the "Final Season" of NisiOisin's Monogatari Series, on Saturday. The video features the ending theme song "border" sung by the relaunched music duo ClariS.

Koyomi: Yotsugi Ononoki is a doll, and if you were to put it another way, she is not a human. That is Yotsugi Ononoki. She is a shikigami, but also a tsukumogami. Above all that, she can't help but be in conflict with human society.
Shinobu: In fact, this is not the truth, sir. In the case of "her," anyway. A spirit not spoken of cannot become a spirit. Ghost stories have to be suspicious, after all.
Yotsugi: Yay. It's been a while, big brother.
Tsukihi: Big brother! You're the worst! Saying you're preparing a bath for Karen, but you're just planning to get in first, right!? Well fine. Let's get in together.
Karen: What are you doing, idiot!?
Shinobu: Oh. How about asking that person? Yotsugi Ononoki, I mean.
Shinobu: You took too long.
Yozuru: Come with me, girl.
Yozuru: How much of a child are you?
Yotsugi: However... No, I can't say anything past this.
Koyomi: Every story has an end. I'm about to talk about this story now because I learned that. This is the beginning of the end. It's the story of the beginning of the end to a human named Koyomi Araragi.
Yotsugi: What what? Yay.

Hiroshi Kamiya and Saori Hayami reprise their roles as their characters Koyomi Araragi and Yotsugi Ononoki, respectively. Akiyuki Simbo returns as chief director of the anime, while Tomoyuki Itamura serves as director. The anime is once again produced at Shaft, and Akio Watanabe serves as animation director. Fuyashi Tou and Simbo are in charge of the series scripts.

All four episodes of Tsukimonogatari will begin running at 10:00 p.m. on New Year's Eve on the Tokyo MX station, the BS11 channel, and the niconico service. Aniplex will then release the episodes on two Yotsugi Doll Blu-ray Disc/DVD volumes on February 4 and March 4, 2015.

The Nisio Tsūshin newsletter had reported in 2012 that the anime adaptation of NisiOisin's entire Monogatari novel series has been "officially green-lit." The novels already inspired several previous anime adaptations from director Akiyuki Shinbo and the studio SHAFT. Zoku Owarimonogatari, the last volume for the "Final Season" of the novels, shipped in September with teaser page for "Monogatari Series, Next Season" and "Tsugimonogatari."
