ClariS Sings Tsukimonogatari's Ending Song With New Member

New single "border" to launch before Karen joins Clara onstage in January

Vol. 19 of the anime music magazine Lisani! announced on Saturday that the group ClariS is relaunching with the new member Karen. The group is returning with "border," a new single which will go on sale on January 7, 2015. It will be the ending theme song of the Tsukimonogatari television anime, which will premiere in one four-episode marathon on December 31.

The duo — Karen and continuing member Clara — will then perform at the "Lisani! Live-5" festival at Tokyo's Nippon Budōkan arena on January 25. This will be the first time that ClariS — in either incarnation — has taken part at a music festival, and only the second time they have sung in front of people in public (after this past January's "2014 New Year's Festival Hajimari no Yokan…")

Alice, a former member of ClariS, left the group to focus on her studies earlier this year. However, Clara then promised that ClariS is not disbanding.

The duo ClariS debuted in 2010 as middle-schoolers with their single "irony," which served as the opening theme to the Ore no Imōto ga Konnani Kawaii Wake ga Nai TV anime. From there, they performed the theme songs for the Puella Magi Madoka Magica TV anime and films, as well as the themes for Moyashimon Returns and Nisemonogatari. ClariS also performed the theme song for the Akiba's Trip PlayStation Portable game. More recently, the duo provided two theme songs for the Nisekoi anime.

The duo had made one live performance at that New Year's Festival, but they were only visible as silhouettes behind a curtain to their fans during the concert. Instead, ClariS is normally illustrated as anime characters by various artists, including Akio Watanabe, Ume Aoki, and Hiro Kanzaki. Alice is portrayed in the color blue, while Clara is represented by the color pink. (Karen appears in the picture above with Clara.)
