Cardfight!! Vanguard's 4-Panel Mini Van Manga Gets 2nd Anime in October

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Manga's 1st anime adaptation premiered in 2013

Collectible and trading card game producer Bushiroad announced at its "Bushiroad TCG Nairankai" (Bushiroad TCG Sneak Preview) event on July 9 that a new anime adaptation of Mini Van (Mini Vanguard), Quily's four-panel manga based on Bushiroad's Cardfight!! Vanguard game and anime franchise, has been green-lit. The event also revealed an illustration from Quily commemorating the announcement.

Additionally, the September issue of Monthly Bushiroad magazine (pictured at right) revealed on Saturday that the anime will premiere in October. The issue also revealed that the fourth compiled manga volume of Mini Van will ship on September 26.

Quily launched the manga in Kadokawa Shoten's Kerokero Ace magazine in 2011, and Kadokawa published the third compiled book volume in August 2014. The manga already inspired a 37-episode anime by Flash animation studio DLE (Thermae Romae, Haiyoru! Nyaru-Ani, Eagle Talon) in 2013.

The main Cardfight!! Vanguard franchise already has a television anime. The anime's fifth season, titled Cardfight!! Vanguard G, premiered last October and is currently ongoing. Crunchyroll is streaming this anime into several countries as it airs in Japan, while the official Cardfight!! Vanguard YouTube channel streams Animax Asia's English-dubbed version. The fourth season, Cardfight!! Vanguard: Legion Mate-Hen, premiered in March 2014, and Crunchyroll streamed that season as well. There has also been a live-action television adaptation, starring BREAKERZ band musician DAIGO, that premiered in 2012.

Cardfight!! Vanguard co-creator Takaaki Kidani had said in March 2014 that the franchise will get fifth, sixth and seventh seasons.

Vertical Comics is publishing Akira Itō's main manga adaptation in English.
