The official website for the television anime adaptation of author Iipyao and artist Yūjirō Koyama's Tonkatsu DJ Agetarō manga opened on Thursday. The website revealed some of the anime's main staff, as well as a visual for the anime.
Akitaro Daichi (Sexy Commando Gaiden: Sugoi yo!! Masaru-san, Animation Runner Kuromi, Nurse Angel Ririka SOS) will direct the anime at Studio Deen. Daisuke Fujiwara from the music group MU-STAR GROUP will compose the music for the anime.
The gag manga follows Agetarō Katsumata, a stupid but honest guy whose family has run a tonkatsu (breaded pork cutlet) restaurant for three generations. He's also a beginner club DJ.
The manga series began weekly serialization in Shueisha's Shonen Jump+ app in November. Shortly after it debuted, a panel from the comic went viral. The panel, pictured below, features the main character having an epiphany that "tonkatsu cooks and DJs are the same" and makes a pun on "flyer" (for an event) and "fryer" (at a restaurant).
The manga is also published in Shueisha's Men's Non No monthly fashion magazine. Shueisha published the fourth compiled volume of the manga on October 3.
