Anime 'episode 1" to be screened at free September 16 preview in Tokyo

This week's issue of Kadokawa's Weekly Famitsu magazine is unveiling a new project from Koei Tecmo Games' Gust brand and Toei Animation studios on Thursday. The Kakuchō Shōjo-Kei Trinary "anime cross-link role-playing game" for smartphones will attempt an "unprecedented fusion of games and anime." Akira Tsuchiya (Gust's Ar Tonelico, Ciel Nosurge) is producing the project.

The story centers on five girls who fight with a special mission in the plane of existence on the other side of the screen. The setting of the story is the metropolitan area of the Japanese capital, after it was beset by a certain abnormality.

Famitsu's website posted anime designs from the project. The actual magazine issue will feature profiles of the girl characters and story world, as well as interviews with the creators.

The project is the first such collaboration between the two companies. The companies will host a preview event on September 16 that will feature the project's main cast. The free event will take place at the Shinjuku Wald 9 theater in Tokyo, and Tsuchiya will appear at the event. After screening anime "episode 1," the event will feature stage greetings and a talk show segment with the guests.
