Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe began streaming a new character introduction trailer for the Dragon Ball FighterZ fighting game on Thursday. The video previews Majin Buu as a playable character.
The company also began streaming a new content trailer for the Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 game on Thursday. The video previews Dabura and Buu (Gohan Absorbed).
Bandai Namco Entertainment and Arc System Works' Dragon Ball FighterZ game is adding an original playable character designed by Akira Toriyama named Android 21, who is described as a scientist possessing intelligence rivaling Dr. Gero. Chiaotzu will also appear in the game as an assist character and as part of some of Tien Shinhan's moves. Tohru Furuya previously confirmed that he is voicing lines for Yamcha in the game.
Bandai Namco Entertainment will release the three-versus-three fighting game on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Bandai Namco Entertainment America and Europe will release a "CollectorZ Edition" that will include an Goku statue, three art boards, and steelbook packaging. Those who pre-order the game in Europe and North America will get an unlock code for Super Saiyan Blue Goku and Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta, and two lobby avatars.
The game is slated for release in February 2018. A closed beta for the game ran in September.
Bandai Namco Entertainment America describes the game:
Arc System Works delivers an explosive, action-packed game that combines classic 2D fighting with advanced 3D character models that look and feel as if they are ripped straight out of the DRAGON BALL series.
Bandai Namco Entertainment teases the game's story:
With the resurrection of Android 16 and the invasion of the mysterious army corps, the super warriors starts to fall. What is happening?
Playable characters include Goku (Super Saiyan), Teen Gohan (Super Saiyan 2), Vegeta (Super Saiyan), Future Trunks (Super Saiyan), Freeza (Final Form, Golden Freeza), Cell (Perfect Form), Krillin, Piccolo, Android 18 (with Android 17), and Android 16.
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 game launched for the Nintendo Switch in the West on September 22. Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe recently announced that the game will get new content for PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
The Nintendo Switch release includes three new systems. The new ad-hoc co-op feature lets players connect and play with up to six players locally for the first time in the Dragon Ball Xenoverse series. Using the motion sensor lets players use ultimate techniques. For example, players can hold the Joy-Cons in both hands to use a Kamehameha attack. Two players can use Joy-Cons to battle against each other on one Nintendo Switch.
The release offers the "Time Patrol" story from the first Dragon Ball Xenoverse game as a limited-time bonus. The first copies include a download code to unlock more than 70 characters from the main story immediately.
The events of the game take a place a few years after Dragon Ball Xenoverse. Players assume the role of a Time Patroller, and set out to prevent the history of the Dragon Ball world from being changed.
Bandai Namco Entertainment released the game for Nintendo Switch in Japan on September 7. Bandai Namco Entertainment released the Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 game for PS4, Xbox One, and PC in North America and Europe last October. Bandai Namco Entertainment released the game for the PS4 in Japan last November.
