Game ships on August 31 in Europe

NIS America began streaming a trailer on Wednesday for its release of the God Wars The Complete Legend (God Wars: Nippon Shinwa Taisen) Switch game. The video reveals the game's September 4 release date for North America. The game is also shipping on August 31 in Europe.

The game ships in Japan for the Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation Vita on June 14.

The game is an expanded version of the God Wars Future Past PS4 and PS Vita game. Users will be able to download the game's new dungeon and quality-of-life updates for the previous PS4 and PS Vita versions. NIS America will release God Wars The Complete Legend for Nintendo Switch in a physical and digital release.

God Wars The Complete Legend will include all the downloadable contents of the original God Wars Future Past game, a new character Orihime, and a new "The Legend of Yomi" dungeon (pictured at right). The new dungeon features Hyuga, Momotaro, and his allies as playable characters, and features multiple endings.

Those who pre-order the game in Japan will receive an Ema strap of characters Orihime or Kame. The PS4/Vita versions will receive Kame, and the Nintendo Switch version will receive Orihime. The straps also come with a product code for in-game items. A limited edition golden box set in Japan for all three consoles will include a 200-page guidebook, artwork and developer interviews, the God Wars soundtrack, character amulets (Kaguya, Sakuya and Iwanaga), and a subscription ticket for a God Wars event on July 14.

The original PS4 and PS Vita game launched in Japan, Europe, and North America last June.

NIS America describes the game:

A long time ago, there was a beautiful land made up of three nations: Fuji, Izumo, and Hyuga . This land was called Mizuho. The people of Mizuho disliked conflict, honored their ancestral spirits, and lived in harmony with nature. However, over time, they began cultivating crops, forging and using metal, fighting wars, destroying nature, and neglecting to honor their ancestral spirits.

In the meantime, various locations in Mizuho suffered from natural disasters like flooding, earthquakes, and volcanic eruptions. In order to stop a destructive eruption, the Queen of Mizuho, Tsukuyomi, sacrificed her beloved daughter Sakuya to the mountain, confined her other daughter Kaguya within a bamboo seal in case of future disasters, and then disappeared. 13 years later, Princess Kaguya has grown into a beautiful woman and her childhood friend, Kintaro, saves her during a riot. She rises against her "fate to be a sacrifice," and in order to follow her own path, they both escape from Fuji and journey across Mizuho to discover the truth behind Tsukuyomi's decision.

The game's aesthetic mixes anime-inspired character designs and monster designs influenced by classical Japanese Yamato-e paintings. Yoshimi Yasuda, the former head of Tecmo and current head of Kadokawa Games, conceived the story, directed the game, and wrote the scenario. LovePlus designer Tarō Minoboshi designed the characters, while Sawaki Takeyasu (Devil May Cry, Steel Battalion, Ōkami, El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron) designed the monsters. Enka singer Fuyumi Sakamoto performed the theme song "Toki o Koete."
