Tsukiuta Franchise Gets 8th Stage Play in March

Six Gravity, Procellarum units star in play based on "Tsukino Empire" alternate universe story

The official Twitter account for the Tsukiuta franchise revealed on December 16 that the franchise will get an eighth stage play titled TSUKINO EMPIRE -Unleash your mind.-. The play will run for eight performances at the Maihama Amphitheater from March 27 to 31. It will star the Six Gravity and Procellarum units, and will feature guest appearances by SolidS and QUELL.

The "Tsukino Empire" in the stage play's title is an alternate universe space opera side story for the franchise that was created for the Animate Girls Festival 2015 event.

The first stage play ran in April 2016 in "Black" and "White" versions focused on Six Gravity and Procellarum, respectively. The second stage performance ran in October 2016 in "Sakura Chapter" and "Moon Chapter" versions, both of which starred both groups but focused on different characters. The third play, School Revolution!, ran in March 2017, again with Black and White versions for the different groups. The fourth play, Lunatic Party, ran in October 2017. The fifth stage play, Rabbits Kingdom in November/December 2017, again featured Black and White versions, but in this case both versions starred both groups in the same story from different perspectives.

The sixth stage play, Kurenai Enishi, is running from October 18 to November 4 at the Shingawa Prince Stellar Ball in Tokyo. The play had Black and Red versions focused on Six Gravity and Procellarum, respectively. The seventh stage play, CYBER-DIVE-CONNECTION, ran at Hulic Hall in Tokyo from December 5 to 9, and then at Mielparque Hall in Osaka from December 13 to 16.

The franchise has both a male version and a female version. The male version centers around the Tokyo idol unit Six Gravity (composed of characters representing December to May) and the sibling rival unit Procellarum (composed of idols born in Western Japan and representing June to November).

The franchise already inspired vocal music CDs, duet CDs, drama CDs, and a 2016 television anime. The first Tsukiuta. THE ANIMATION television anime season premiered in Japan in July 2016. Funimation streamed the series as aired in Japan, and then offered it on Blu-ray Disc in September 2017. The anime will get a second season.

Tsukiuta is part of the "2.5 dimensional" agency Tsukino Talent Production, or TsukiPro. The TsukiPro franchise has also spawned the TsukiPro the Animation television anime based on four of its other groups: SOARA, Growth, SolidS, and QUELL. The anime premiered in October 2017 and Crunchyroll streamed the anime as it aired. The anime is getting a sequel.

The franchise is also getting a live-action film.
