Former Takarazuka star Hiroki Nanami, Tatsuhisa Suzuki, Saori Hayami, Yūki Ono join Satelight anime

The official website for the television anime of Yako Gureishi's Somali and the Forest Spirit (Somali to Mori no Kamisama) manga announced more cast members and a delayed January premiere on Saturday. The newly announced cast members are:

Hiroki Nanami, a former Takarazuka Revue (Star Troupe) star who played male roles, as Shizuno, a little oni creature apothecary who gets to know Somari and Golem

Tatsuhisa Suzuki as Yabashira

Saori Hayami as Uzoi

Yūki Ono as Haitora

The anime was previously announced for a television premiere this fall, before the delay to January.

Inori Minase will play Somali, and Daisuke Ono will play Golem in the anime. Staff will hold auditions for original guest characters for the anime.

Kenji Yasuda (Macross Delta, Hakata Tonkotsu Ramens) is directing the anime at Satelight (Aquarion, Macross Delta). Ikuko Ito (Princess Tutu, The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan) is designing the characters.

The manga is set in a world ruled by spirits and monsters, and where humans are persecuted and driven to the brink of extinction. In a certain forest, a golem – the guardian of the forest – and a little girl meet. Their journey as surrogate father and daughter to each other begins.

Crunchyroll will stream the series as it airs in Japan.

Gureishi launched the manga in Tokuma Shoten's Web Comic Zenyon web manga site in April 2015. Tokuma Shoten published the manga's sixth compiled book volume on April 20.
