Visual Effects Studio Picture Element Files for Bankruptcy

Visual effects company Picture Element formally began bankruptcy proceedings on September 18 through the Tokyo District Court. The company owes 194 million yen (about US$1.80 million) to 64 creditors.
Picture Element was founded in September 2011, and the studio worked on visual effects and CG for various film and television projects. The company has worked on such films as the live-action Library Wars films, 20th Century Boys, the live-action Nodame Cantabile films, the live-action Space Brothers film, Helter Skelter, Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo, the live-action Kiki's Delivery Service film, The Eternal Zero, Stand By Me Doraemon, the live-action Rurouni Kenshin films, the live-action Parasyte films, the live-action Princess Jellyfish film, the live-action 3D Kanojo Real Girl, the live-action Attack on Titan films, Eiga Yo-kai Watch: Sora Tobu Kujira to Double Sekai no Daibōken da Nyan!, the live-action Terraformars, and Shin Godzilla. More recently, it worked on such films as Dragon Quest Your Story, and the live-action Kingdom and Archimedes no Taisen films.
