Former Nintendo president/COO to receive Andrew Yoon Legend Award at New York Game Awards

The New York Videogame Critics Circle announced on Tuesday that it is presenting Reggie Fils-Aimé, former President and COO of Nintendo of America, with the Andrew Yoon Legend Award at the ninth annual New York Game Awards at the SVA Theatre in Manhattan on January 21. According to the organization's website, the award goes to "individuals and organizations that exhibit a significant, sustained body of work that shows exceptional achievement and innovation."

The event will have a livestream on Mixer and Twitch, and the organization will announce details at a later date.

Fils-Aime joined the New York Videogame Critics Circle's board of directors on September 17.

Fils-Aimé retired from Nintendo of America in April. He began working at Nintendo of America as its executive vice president of sales and marketing in 2003, and he became president and COO in 2006. According to the announcement's press release, "Fils-Aimé's management led to record-breaking sales for products like the Nintendo DS, Wii, Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo Switch systems." During Fils-Aimé's time with Nintendo of America, the company established a new sales and marketing office in Redwood City, California and built a new headquarters in Redmond, Washington.
