Sozo Pte. Ltd., the organizer of the Anime Festival Asia conventions, announced on Friday that it will hold "AFA United," a new initiative to hold a series of online streams in response to the recent difficulty of holding regular physical conventions this year due to the worldwide spread of the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19). The first event will stream on Sunday, April 26 at 8:00 p.m. GMT +8 on the Anime Festival Asia YouTube channel.

The events will feature 22/7 idol Sally Amaki; musicians bless4, BLUE ENCOUNT, ALISA, Eri Sasaki, EXiNA, fhana, JUNNA, Konomi Suzuki, Lotus Juice, Luna Haruna, May'n, Mika Kobayashi, nano, ORESAMA, ReoNa, SCANDAL, TRUE, and YURiKA; voice actresses Ayaka Ohashi, Azusa Tadokoro, Eriko Nakamura, Minori Chihara, Riko Sasaki, and Sora Tokui; actor Hisanori Yoshida; and cosplayers Punipun and Rithe.

The Anime Festival Asia conventions take place in Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, and Japan. The event is one of the largest anime and Japanese pop-culture conventions outside Japan. 2015's Anime Festival Asia in Singapore drew 90,669 visitors. Aside from Anime Festival Asia and its attached I Love Anisong label, Sozo also owns JLive Asia, and organizes the Japan Music Festival brand.
