New Editions of Totoro and Laputa Released October 18

posted on by Andrew Osmond
New editions will each include slipcase, digipack and art cards

On Monday October 18, Studio Canal will release Amazon-exclusive Collectors Editions of two Hayao Miyazaki film by Studio Ghibli: the 1988 film My Neighbour Totoro (pictured right) and the 1986 film Laputa: Castle in the Sky (pictured left). Each edition will include a slipcase, digipack and art cards, as well as the respective film on Blu-ray.

Amazon summarises My Neighbour Totoro as follows:

"While their mother recovers from an illness, Satsuki and her little sister Mei move to an idyllic rural retreat with their father. Far from the bustle of the city, they discover a mysterious place of nature and magic, and the friendship of the Totoro forest spirits. Devoid of conflict and suffused with the joy of country living, the film unites the unique vision of Hayao Miyazaki with a feel-good tale of childlike wonder and true originality, and is an elegy to two fading miracles: the fairytale world of childhood and the disappearing countryside."

Amazon summarises Laputa: Castle in the Sky as follows:

"Pazu's life is forever changed when Sheeta falls out of the sky in front of him. Around her neck is a glowing crystal: a relic of the mighty Levitation Stones that once kept ancient cities floating in the air. Caught up in a race between sky pirates and sinister government agents, Pazu and Sheeta go in search of Laputa, the last of the fabled castles in the sky. Combining Miyazaki's twin obsessions of eco-thriller and aerial escapades, it crashes a treasure hunt into a fight against evil for an unforgettable adventure."
