Angel's Anime Outpost to Host Three Days of Tournaments at Con-X-Treme 2008
Castro Valley, CA. Con-X-Treme announced this month that Angel's Anime Outpost (AAO) will be joining the list of sponsors, bringing tournament game play to the con festivities!
AAO, a family run gaming and anime store in San Lorenzo, a recent addition to the list of places to go and play a variety of games and discuss AAO will be backing their gaming bags and traveling to the San Mateo Marriot to celebrate Con-X-Treme 2008 with a number of card gaming tournaments! In partnership with the convention and manufacturers, the AAO will be presenting three days of sanctioned events for Bleach, Magic the Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh! and Vs. System. In addition, space will be available to sample, discuss and play a variety of other card and table top gaming titles, with giveaways and casual play. Terry Meadows, convention founder and animation enthusiast, was not very successful in holding back his enthusiasm when announcing this addition. When asked if gaming and tournament play is consistent with the message of the convention, Terry explained that this type of gaming is “a natural addition to Con-X-Treme. We've seen so many animated titles evolve not just into card game titles but even role playing gaming as well. Having these sanctioned events at our con this year only compliments our message.”
Although he agreed, Rob Miles (event Chair) reminds us that “fans of animation enjoy the fantasy aspects of stories. The gaming is huge with them, especially anime fans!” Terry and Rob are working closely with AAO staff and are focused on providing a great experience for their attendees who participate in any part of the conventions packed event schedule.
As registered Tournament Organizers for: Score Entertainment, Upper Deck and Wizards of the Coast, participants will qualify for the points and other registered benefits that may apply. Magic the Gathering Tournament – Preliminaries (Swiss Round); Registration: 9:00am – 10:30am, Tournament Play: 11:00am. No limit to number of players!
Yu-Gi-Oh! Tournament – (Swiss Rounds); Registration: 9:00am – 10:30am, Tournament Play: 11:00am. No limit to number of players!
