Annual Hobby Convention Returns to Hartford, CT; Draws Fans from Around the Region

July 8th 2011. Gaming, anime, and hobby lovers from across the Northeast will gather at the Connecticut Convention Center July 8th, 9th, and 10th for the ninth annual ConnectiCon Convention at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford, CT. Founded in 2003, ConnectiCon is the largest massively multi-genre convention in New England.

This year's event features 7,000 hours of programming spread out over three days, including informative panels and hands-on workshops, special guest appearances, trading card, board game, and role playing competitions, including 60 scheduled tournaments for Magic: The Gathering, video gaming on over 100 systems, artist and author signings, a fantasy masquerade, late-night dance parties, and oodles of other fun stuff to do all day, everyday.

Special guests include John St. John aka “Duke Nukem”, Carlos Ferro aka Dom Santiago from video game Gears Of War, and Least I Could Do creators Ryan Sohmer & Lar DeSouza. Popular artists doing signings include Rob Alexander and Steven Belledin, illustrators for Magic: The Gathering, as well as a host of other anime, gaming, comics, and webcomics guests.

Each year ConnectiCon also hosts an online media charity auction which benefits Child's Play, a Seattle, WA-based, gamer-run organization that holds an annual toy drive for children's hospitals. Items auctioned have included named appearances in various comics, custom art, dinner dates, and more.

Annual memberships to ConnectiCon are available at the door, and include access to all three days of the convention, as well as monthly member appreciation days and other events year-round.
