Crunchyroll to Simulcast Mushibugyo Anime This Spring

The leading online Asian entertainment stream service adds the samurai action series Mushibugyō to its Spring 2013 lineup.

San Francisco, Calif. (March 30, 2013) – Crunchyroll, Inc., has acquired the anime series Mushibugyō as part of its spring simulcasts, and is set to broadcast every Monday starting on April 8, at 3:00a.m. Pacific Time for its premium members, and April 15 for free members. Mushibugyō will be available to Crunchyroll's audience worldwide except for the following territories: Japan, Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, The Phillippines, and Singapore.

Based off of the original manga Joujuu Senjin!! Mushibugyō by Hiroshi Fukuda, Mushibugyō is set in an alternate history version of Edo-era Tokyo, where a special unit called the “Mushibugyō” protects the city's denizens from the giant insects that run rampant throughout the city. Jinbe Tsukishima left his home to join the Mushibugyō, and now fights alongside his fellow comrades to exterminate the giant bugs while striving to be a warrior who never loses. He and the rest of the Mushibugyō risk their lives to protect not only the peace in Edo, but the smiles of the people as well!

Mushibugyō is being produced by Seven Arcs, whose other works include Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha, the Dog Days series, and Asura Cryin'. The cast includes voice actor/singer KENN as Jinbe Tsukishima, whose debut role was Judai Yuki in Yu-Gi-Oh! GX and also plays Hibito Nanba in Space Brothers. Voice actress Satomi Akesaka, also known as krkr in gdgd Fairies, stars as Oharu, and Rumi Ookubo, whose other roles include Chinatsu Yoshikawa from Yuruyuri, is Hibachi.
