SaikouCon 2014 Give Mini-Extension to Panel Submissions

SaikouCon 2014 Gives Mini-Extension to Panel Submissions

Convention Opens Panel Submission to Potential Panelists for One More Week, June 10 – June 16

6/10/14 Breinigsville, PA – SaikouCon, which means "best convention”, is the Lehigh Valley's first and only large scale, annual anime convention. Boasting a dedicated staff of longtime Japanese anime and manga fans, SaikouCon is excited to be the only annual convention dedicated exclusively to anime, manga, and Japanese culture and pop culture in this area of Northeast Pennsylvania.

The convention promises to remain very hands on and attendee friendly every year, while also maintaining a safe atmosphere for attendees to enjoy the convention to their carefree fullest. As always, Cosplay =/= Consent is a very important issue to the staff of SaikouCon, and the same rules and regulations that made SaikouCon 2013 a safe haven for cosplayers will be enforced just as strictly at SaikouCon 2014. SaikouCon 2014 will feature many diverse and entertaining panels, workshops, activities, events, screenings, gaming tournaments, and much more!

SaikouCon 2014 is re-opening Panel Submissions for one week, June 10 – June 16, in hopes of bringing in more diversified programming for the convention's second year this August. Convention Chair, founder, and executive coordinator, Michael Meade says of the extension, “we received a flood of in character Q&As, dating games, truth or dares etc. in SaikouCon's panel submissions this year. While these types of panels are a lot of fun, it's difficult to make a well rounded programming block out of them; especially when many we received were too similar to approve them all. Besides this major point, there were also not enough fandoms represented in the submissions to take a chance on creating a program so heavy with in character panels; we just didn't see our con goers appreciating 90% of our show being made of character Q&As from only two fandoms. With this extension, we're hoping for more anime-centric panels as well as more on Japanese culture, classical and modern, as well as other areas of Japanese pop culture in all its many facets.”

The “Mini-Extension” to Panel Submissions is open from 6 am on June 10 until midnight on June 16, once this extension is closed, all panels submitted to the convention during this week long period will be decided upon and then the convention staff will finalize and release their full schedule for SaikouCon 2014. Already firm in the schedule are a solo concert from The Adarna on Friday August, 22 followed by a sizzling age 18+ performance from Cosplay Burlsque! Saturday August 23 will see among the many panels and screenings, SaikouCon's Cosplay Contest and Cosplay Concert following featuring The Adarna headlining and The Asterplace kicking off the concert at 10 pm. A highlight of the panels will be the 3 Day VA Workshop, a six hour intensive presentation from Guests of Honor Bill Rogers, Greg Houser, and Marc Swint on the work it takes to be a successful Voice Actor from auditioning for roles to having the chops and skills to be legimitate voice actor in anime and beyond!

SaikouCon's Guests of Honor for 2014 include RuffleButt Cosplay (Jessie Pridemore), Greg Houser (Evangelion, Shiki, One Piece, Ikki Tousen: Great Guardians, and more), Bill Rogers (Pokémon, Boogiepop Phantom, Gravitation, Queen's Blade, His and Her Circumstances, and more), Marc Swint (Mass Effect: Paragon Lost, Anime Abandon), Sonny Strait (Dragon Ball Z, Fullmetal Alchemist, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Black Butler, Lupin III, One Piece, Ouran High School Host Club, KenIchi the Mightiest Disciple, Hetalia - Axis Powers, Fairy Tail, and many many more).
