Setsucon Heads Online Next Weekend, Featuring Panels, Cosplay Meetups, Video Gaming Tournaments, and the Voices of Ash Ketchum and Nagisa Shiota

ALTOONA, PA – Setsucon is excited to celebrate anime, cosplay, and gaming for a 15th year this April 10th and 11th. The annual anime convention will be held virtually this year, due to the pandemic, after having been at the Blair County Convention Center since 2018, and was previously in State College, Pennsylvania from 2007-2017. The student and alumni run convention, hosted by the Penn State Anime Organization from Penn State-University Park, which annually brings about 1,500 people into Altoona, looks forward to welcoming even more people from across the world with its online-streaming convention.

This year's event looks to bring many of the events normally seen at conventions to an online format, including panels, video gaming, cosplay meetups, musical performances, and more, while connecting the community in new ways. The convention focuses on being a weekend long celebration of all things anime, manga, gaming, cosplay, and Japanese culture.

Setsucon 2021 will feature two voice actors at the top of their craft: Lindsay Seidel and Sarah Natochenny. Lindsay is best known as the voice of Nagisa Shiota in Assassination Classroom, Eto in Tokyo Ghoul, and most recently Gabi Braun in Attack On Titan. Sarah is best known as the voice of Ash Ketchum in Pokemon, having been performing in that role since 2006. Both voice actors will be presenting Q&As during the convention and signing autographs for attendees.

Also, Setsucon 2021 will featuring music from Philadelphia-based DJs Awesomus Prime and Heroes 4 Hire. Awesomus Prime makes his return to Setsucon for the third straight year, fusing anime music with chiptune for a unique and always rocking style. Heroes 4 Hire will being making their Setsucon debut this year and will bring new-age hip-hop stylings that all will enjoy.

As for events of the weekend, Setsucon 2021 will feature both fan and guest panels, game shows, open video gaming (Among Us, Skribbl, Jackbox Party Pack), video gaming tournaments (Rocket League, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Street Fighter V, Magic: The Gathering Arena), cosplay meetups, a Hall Cosplay Contest, a Tik Tok Challenge, and much more.

The convention will be held completely online on April 10th and 11th, 2021 and is free to attend.

ABOUT SETSUCON: Setsucon is organized by the Penn State Anime Organization at University Park. Starting out in 2007 at the Days Inn Penn State in State College, this student and alumni run event moved to Altoona in 2018 to continue growing and presenting a safe and inclusive family friendly convention to Pennsylvania and beyond. With nearly 1,500 attendees, it is one of the largest fandom events in Central Pennsylvania and the fourth largest annual anime convention in the state. With its virtual convention in 2021, Setsucon expects to have 3,000 – 5,000 viewings from across the world watching throughout the weekend. Setsucon was named the Penn State Student Organization Program of the Year in 2018.
