Global Box Office Sensation “Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train” Surpasses $4 Million at the Australian & New Zealand Box Office

English Dub Encore Release Now in Cinemas


Melbourne, Australia, 29 April 2021 – Japan's Number 1 film of all time, Demon Slayer – Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train has become Madman Anime Group's best performing theatrical release across both Australian and New Zealand territories.

The global phenomenon opened in Japan on 16 October 2020 and is now the highest grossing anime and Japanese film (animated or live action) in Japan's box office history. Demon Slayer – Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train also had a record-breaking opening weekend in North America last week, becoming the #1 Foreign Language film debut in U.S. box office history.

Locally, the film secured the top spot throughout the opening week of release in February (Japanese language with English subtitles) and has exceeded $4,000,000 AUD gross box office and $700,000 NZD gross box office in Australia and New Zealand, respectively.
