The Re:Zero anime is based on the currently running light novel series by Tappei Nagatsuki. The first season of the anime adaptation aired from April to September 2016 and was a hit with fans and critics alike. The long-awaited first half of the second season ran from July to September 2020, with the second half airing from January to March 2021.
