New Feature: Audio Articles
posted onYesterday ANN added the Instaread text-to-speech reader to our news and interest articles. A small number of readers have been requesting this functionality for quite some time and we are happy to now offer it.
We hope that the new feature is useful to those who would benefit from it, and not too much of a nuisance to those who have no use for it. There is an options for all registered users to disable Instaread in your account settings.
After testing Instaread on our news and interest articles for a few weeks, we plan to add it to reviews, certain columns and certain features.
Instaread plans to add support for multiple voices, at which time we will be able to add it to our interviews, Preview Guides, This Week in Anime and other content that features multiple authors.
We are aware that Instaread may mispronounce names and foreign (eg: Japanese and Korean words). We will be teaching it how to pronounce the most commonly used foreign words on ANN.
Please let us know in the feedback if you encounter any issues with Instaread or if you have any other feedback.
