Oh, wow, if this guy directed the last half of 08th MS Team then I love his work. This is sad.

That's terrible. Not only because he directed stuff I loved, but because he died way too young.

I give my condolences to those most affected by this man's death.
Latter sections of The 08th MS Team provided UC Gundam with several of its more sombre moments, whereas Hellsing exuded a violent flair that did well to outshine its shortcomings of storytelling and voice acting.

wtf.. these artists need to start having healthier lifestyle or diet.. whoever hire them should take on some initiative to look out for employee health.. it's not like it doesn't benefit the company to have a healthy employee

The word Great can mean large, not just good.

I added a photo to his ANN profile since it didn't have one. Article looks kinda empty that way. Taken from here (he's on the left; guy to the right is Takashi Imanishi): http://www.08ms-team.net/special/interview_eventreport.htm

EDIT: He also worked on Castle in the Sky as an assistant unit director under his birth name Tsutomu Iida.

Oh man, that's terrible. First Kon and now him. Can anyone shed any light on what happened?

His work, limited as it may be is tragically underrated. Hellsing (TV) will always be one of my favourite series. RIP.
