So I guess they just saw how well One Piece and Gundam was doing and decided to make a combination-wannabe out of the two in a high-school setting.

This looks like it'll be fun. I'm sure Satelight will adapt the novels well.
The whole 'replacement for dead father' really makes me think of Gunbuster though. |

I remember reading the article talking about "mini skirt space pirates" (the manga or anime, I'm not sure which) and how everyone was sold on such an idea based on the name itself, myself included. The preview looks intruiging, I'll be looking forward to the actual show itself. You would think a show like this would be right up Funimation's alley: short skirts and spaceships.

There'll definitely be a section of fandom who've been waiting for Sato to do this sort of material again. And I'm one of them. I wasn't feeling the early part of the preview, but once the lead was dressed as a pirate, we started to see the crew and ship designs, my expectations rose. |

I'd rather have a third season of Vandread. This series seems to be seriously lacking in both Jura and Meia.

You may not want to go there, or you'll hear from the folks who've wanted another season of Nadesico since 1997 --- which is a bit of baggage that this series will be faced with, just as Stellvia did at first. |
