Just need to know where to look, online stores usually have good prices, and Best Buys are a good place to look except you tend to be at the mercy of their inventory.

Try used DVD stores, the selection will be hit or miss, but if your patient, get parts of series as they come in, you can do well. I completed my Last Exile, X (with slipcovers), and Haibane Renmei for about $10 a disk. I picked up an old Lain VHS (Sub) for $2 a tape. All the best, Nani? |

Your reasonable price might be different to someone else. But since Rune Soldier is coming out with a thinpak boxset for only 40 dollar and there's also a Rahxephon and FMP thinpak boxset for around 60 online, that's reasonable enough. |

You know, I found Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex at Best Buy for less than $20. It's pretty cheap for a very good anime. |

Or try to search "Geneon Signature Series".
Trigun, Serial Experiments Lain, Tenchi Muyo, Soul Taker, and more, all for an MSRP of around $15 a DVD. |

The Fruits Basket box set is a very good value, and all these ADV thinpak sets aren't bad, either. There's shows like Raxephon, FMP, Final Fantasy Unlimited, Pretear, Rune Soldier Noir that are released in thinpak or will be very soon. You can find various older 13 episode series for cheap, like Lain, Key the Metal Idol, Sakura Diaries for under $40. They'll be re-releasing Now and Then, Here and There for $10 a disc (3 discs).
Some other box sets go for cheap, like Steel Angel Kurumi, the original Evangelion DVD set (non-Platinum), and Excel Saga. Some of the cheapest (non-bootleg) anime I've bought are Seraphim Call and Sentimental Journey. While these two are episodic and not really mainstream, you can find them for under $20, 12 episodes in each series. Just stay away from any series that hasn't been fully released, because those DVDs will be expensive. Waiting for the box set is a better buy. |

I applogise for my grammer. BTW, has anyone seen a movie called Spriggan? Unfortunately, I have. You don't want to. No matter how cheap, you've paid too much. Movies that you can get cheap and are decent-- Blood: The Last Vampire Jin Roh Wings Of Honeamise Otaku No Video Ghost in the Shell Anything by Ghibli/Miyazaki (best bet here) Hard to find but good, They Were 11. Short (One disk) OAVs that are almost like movies-- Read or Die (Single best bet here) Iria All the Best, Nani? |

Yes, I indeed have, and it was quite enjoyable. I don't know if it has enough replay value to buy, but it's definately worth a rental. If I remember right it was around 90 minutes long, yet surprisingly did not feel all that rushed. They could have used a bit more of an introduction, as it just jumps right into the action without providing an adequate backstory. Of course, it will make more sense to you if you have read the Striker manga (the American name for the series). |

KUDOS to everyone who replied to this!!! Not ONE of you suggested downloads or other illegal fansubs. Good for you! Fansubs are truly destroying the anime industry, not only in the U.S. but around the world. I will be posting a new topic here shortly, in an attempt to set the record straight on fansubs. BUt on this topic, yes; Right Stuff International (www.rightstuf.com) is an excellent place to get anime for less than what you'd pay from most store retailers, especially if you join their frequent buyer club (a.k.a. Got Anime?). It's well worth the membership fee. Also, though it pains me to say it because these retailers are also hurting anime sales, Best Buy and some Wal-Marts carry good anime selections (Wal-Mart carries Saiyuki, Rurouni Kenshin, Spriggan, and I hear a rumor that they're carring Gantz now too, though I haven't seen the DVDs there yet).
