at http://www.thenewtnn.com/ it says "Tell us what you want to see." and they have a text window to put in what you want. I thought that the more people that say ANIME the better. they have the animation block so alls they need now is some good shows.

Do we really want anime being on the same block as "Stripperella" though?

And with that, I'm starting to really wonder about the "other guy" out there. |

I wrote "Put on some Japanese anime, especially You're Under Arrest!"
I'm excited about Spike TV, if only because it has an animation block on a channel the stupid anti-free market CRTC forgot to ban Canadian cable/satellite providers from carrying. |

Well, this didn't go well. I figured I'd be witty:
"Anime! Anime! Anime! And not kiddy Pokemon crap, either! No, give us grownup titles, with action and adventure and characters that aren't afraid to smoke and drink!" Then I couldn't think of any examples. 'Cept Cowboy Bebop, and someone else already has it. What are someone good anime for an adult male audience, that isn't porn? ------RM |

Hellsing and Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex might do well. Possibly GTO and the Macross saga too.

First question I would like to ask: considering this is an anime board, what time frame would you want the anime on?
Second questoin: what will be the rating guide for Spike TV? Based on those, you pick your anime. Spike will be a free station, I assume, so you can't have blatant nudity, but if they have an MA rating then you can get away with some stuff. Anime I'd pick: Irresponsible Captain Tylor Evangelion Plastic Little (if they can figure out how to get around the bath scene) Dominion: Tank Police Ranma 1/2 You're Under Arrest Akira And, last but not least: Devilman |

I think GTO would be a perfect fit there. It's got everything that Spike TVs audiance would want to see, same goes for Goldenboy.

Yeah, I'll 2nd GTO and GitS: SAC and 3rd YUA. Maybe Noir if TNN ask ADV very nicely.

"The first TV network, exclusively for men!"
What, like the other 300 channels in existance aren't geared towards men in the first place? I'm watching this network for the new Ren & Stimpy and absolutely nothing else. |

Viacom Networks (also owners of Spike TV/ Formerly TNN, Comedy Central, Comcast – pay for service on demand, blockbuster video Showtime half of UPN, Nick JR, Noggin). The Nickelodeon programming philosophy promotes high-quality and non-violent productions that are from a kid's point of view, with equal gender appeal, humorous, diverse, involve real kid experiences and feature strong characters and good stories. Research insights found that kids and parents like the high-quality, non-violent and pro-social Nickelodeon programming philosophy.
Parents could rely on nickelodeon to make Kid Appropriate Animation Dubs for their children to watch. MTV and Nickelodeon researched stories in which parents and kids like abstinence from sex because of sexually transmitted diseases, stories in which kids were caught with guns and violence, as well research of parents wanting to abstain from profanity. Since parents wanted to protect their children, the head of Kids WB-TV and former VP of Viacom’s nickelodeon Jamie Kellner decided to pass a law in the Congress the FCC called the Children’s Programming Act that limited certain networks and distributors to edit animation during the day when kids are awake. And only allow some adult programming at night when kids are asleep. While networks aren’t limited by this law their forcing distributors, to, in a sense, take out the parts of the story inappropriate for children. While networks aren't limited by this law Viacom networks decided to get the politicians BS&P to in a sense, commercializing the animation industry for kids, either skipping episodes or editing them skipping the parts with guns and violence, sexual situations and foul language in animation, anyway. |

This has NOTHING to do with the topic at hand. Especially since the SpikeTV block is obviously adult oriented with titles like Striperella and Gary the Rat. |
