Does anyone know how to meet otaku in specific locations, I just moved to North Carolina and I have already checked with colleges around me if they have anime clubs- I found one that is about three members big and is not very active. I really want to meet people with the same interests as me in my area. I literally have no friends to hang out with in the area

I checked with two comic book stores close to me, and they do sell manga, however they dont do anything anime related. There arent any anime specific stores either. The state does have 4 conventions, two are very small, and I was just at the Charlotte Ichibancon a couple weeks ago (which is on the opposite side of the state from me). I met a couple people but they were all from that area. The next biggest convention is Animazement in Raleigh and very close to me but I will be in Disney World that weekend so Ill have to wait until next year to go. I was hoping there was some website were I could search for friends with similar interests (not ok cupid, that didn't work at all).

There's an Events Section here where you could try to arrange a meet-up from people in the forums. I know I've seen a few others from NC, so you could probably get a good turn out.
Or you could make a flier that says "Young, *FEMALE* anime otaku looking to meet other anime fans for casual friendship" and put a picture of a random super model on it and I'm sure you'd get a good show. |

12. I tend to adopt people who I'm really close too as family since I haven't seen my cousins in like 10 years ( well with the exception of one but I hardley see her either TT . TT) so basically I adopted about half the people at my church and my entire church Youth Group. Which is fine since we're pretty much a big happy family.

Ok, I guess it's time to introduce myself, now that I've been around for a while.
Name: Like I'd tell you! The R in Rgaspar stands for Roberto, though 
Sex: Male Location: Argentina, South America. Age: 24 Drink/Smoke: Never smoke (I have allergies and I'm partially asthmatic) and I drink occasionally, I prefer quality to quantity (Although, I was a disaster as a teenager) Likes: Read (Books, manga, visual novels, preferently sci-fi and fantasy), write, watch anime, play video-games (my oldest hobby now, alongside reading), surf the net, eat and sleep. Dislikes: Sports (Jogging and the gym are the exception to the rule) Some local types of music, no internet. Favorite anime: At the moment they are Neon Genesis Evangelion (Including the new films), Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Shamploo, Redline (newest item!) FLCL, the first season of Haruhi Suzumiya and its film, and last but not least most of studio Ghibli's films. Favorite Manga (Light novels): Tenjou Tenge, Card Captor Sakura and Ichigo 100% for rom-com values and nostalgia (It was my second manga proper). Haven't read as much manga as the animes I've seen, so this list is the most likely to change in the future. Favorite Books: Isaac Asimov's Foundation Saga, Tolkien's The Lord of The Rings, 1984, Brave New World, Fahrenheit 451, Crime and Punishment. Favorite games: The GTA series, Metal Gear Solid saga, Oddworld's Abe Exoddus, Little Big Adventure 2, SimCity 3000, Gran Turismo 4, just to name a few. Favorite TV shows/Movies: Haven't seen that much TV, but when it comes to films some of my favs are: A Clockwork Orange, The Matrix, Rocky, Requiem For a Dream, Fight Club. Favorite Drink: : Good old beer. Non-Alcoholic Drink: Water. Favorite Foods: Pretty much everything but some tropical fruits (and their juices). Home-made food is a big plus. Favorite Sites: Some forums (including ANN and some others I won't mention since at least one of them is NSFW) techy websites like Toms Hardware, Xbitlabs, Bit-tech, etc, youtube, wikipedia. Favorite Sport (to watch): Racing cars mostly, F-1 and Rally. Favorite Sport (to play): Working out at the gym and running/jogging. Favorite Music: A bit of everything, except some local styles (namely cuarteto and cumbia) I also enjoy anime OST and the older I get the less I like pop music (that I used to love as a teen) Job: None at the moment, I'm leeching off my parents as I finish my studies. Hobbies: Gaming, reading reviews of things I like, discuss about all-things anime and games. (Not-so) Fun facts about Rgaspar: - The first time I had internet at home, I spent 50 hours in a row in front of the PC (with 10 minutes of time off to go to the bathroom and call the delivery) - I'm constantly re-thinking and re-rating the value of things I've experienced (not only when it comes to art and entertainment, but also real life stories). Sex: Male Blood Type: ..... I have no idea. Huh. I should go get tested, shouldn't I? Or should that already be on my records somewhere? Location: Washington State, just outside of Auburn (Pacific area) Marital Status: Single. Age: 26 Ethnicity: About as white as you can get. As for heritage, I'm English, Danish, Norwegian, Romanichal (that's a Gypsy tribe), Scottish (Clan Shaw), and possibly Cherokee (I'm one generation away from confirmation). Religion: Pagan. If you want to get specific, I am study the religions of my ancestors in order to reconcile the various facets of my spiritual life. I also incorporate aspects of Buddhism, and I have been a practicing hedge witch for 16 years. Pets: My ex and I share a miniature pinscher named Ginger. I know, big guy, small dogs.... Well she's the smartest dog I've met yet, so no shame. Drink/Smoke: Drink occassionally, never smoke. Favorite Manga (Light novels): Ghost in the Shell (all of them), Appleseed (all of them), Negima, Fruits Basket, Tsuabasa: Those With Wings, Genshiken, Hana-Kimi... Eh, as above, I can go on for a while. Favorite Books: I grew up with Lord of the Rings, they were my bedtime stories as a kid. I'm also a huge fan of Carrie Vaughn and Cherie Priest, various 40K books, Raymond E Feist, Larry Niven, Douglas Adams... Favorite game: So far it's Assassin's Creed: Revelation. I also love Tenchu Z, the other AC's, Saints Row, the Street Fighter series (II was my favorite), various RPG's and FPS's... Currently I'm hooked on Skyrim and BF3. I'll plug in LOTRO as soon as I get a machine that can handle it. Favorite TV shows/Movies: Simpsons, Family Guy, Futurama, CSI, Bones, Invader Zim... As for movies, Jet Li's Fearless still tops my list, but I'm about as wide and varied in this as I am in the other genres. I enjoy a good movie. Favorite Drink: Captain Morgan's Spiced Rum. My friend and I made a drink, basically a shot of spiced rum with horchata. We call it the Rumrunner. We'll probably change that once we learn that's already a drink. It happened with another name. Non-Alcoholic Drink: Diet pepsi. Favorite Foods: Italian, Mexican, Japanese, and Chinese. You can give me almost anything from those four and I'd probably enjoy it. I also love razor clams. They're the only things I hunt myself. Favorite Sport (to watch): Soccer. I'm a huge Sounders fan. I also like watching Kendo and Judo competitions.
