I'd really like to see Noir actually come out over here. At least someone coming out and saying they have it instead of the wishy washy statements we usually get.
Jin-Roh. I really hope to get that on DVD. It's a sweets how and to enjoy in DVD bliss will make me one happy boy. I'd like to see the Cowboy Bebop movie make it over this year. Other than that, nothing really special. |

I'm wondering about the Sakura Taisen series and movie. AD Vision put out the OAV's (Which I have), but anything doing on the flick and TV series front?

jin-roh is due in US theaters around march.
Theatrical release has started (Selected cities) March 2002 its a bandai ent release. look for dvds towards the end of 2002. no date set. |

Star Ocean EX (I don't recall hearing any announcements, but I'm sure ADV will announce that it's picked it up sooner or later.)
Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou (but there are only 2 episodes of the anime; though I'd also like to see Dark Horse pick up the manga.) 2nd You're Under Arrest TV series (2001); it hasn't been announced by AnimEigo, and I hope they don't get it, 'cause I'd rather buy it as individual disks retail than only as a complete box set through their Website. Yeah, eventually the individual disks would be sold retail, but only at least a year later.) A proper Oh My Goddess! TV series, starting over from the beginning, staying more faithful to the manga, and having Marller (a.k.a. Mara) and more Peorth (though, if it were true to the manga, she wouldn't appear for a loooong time). This doesn't actually exist yet, but it ought to. |

Memories. That is the main one that I want to see over here that hasn't been released yet. Hopefully either the rights will get cheaper, or a company like sony(Columbia/Tristar) will pick up the rights. It is ashamed that the anime movie that did better than Ghost in the Shell did in Japan, is known only by a handfull of people over here.

This isn't exactly anime, but does anyone think ADV will license BATTLE ROYALE for its live-action label, or would the rights to that one be out-of-reach? Harry Knowles put it #2 on the list of his 35 favourite films of 2001 (just behind LOTR:FOTR; if it's number 2 on his list, it's probably much better than LOTR:FOTR, which is quite overrated, but still quite good; then again, I suppose BATTLE ROYALE could be overrated too). I doubt any mainstream film distributor would pick up the rights due to content, though I think the fears of a backlash are grossly exaggerated; it's probably too much of a genre film for groups like the American Family Association or Capalert to even notice, and these groups don't have nearly as much influence as their opponents give them credit for.

A lot of good suggestions all around. Kodocha is my religion, so I'd LOVE to see licensed. Although part of the reason is because I'm so bloody curious: how the heck would they manage to dub this?
Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou! Whoohoo! I thought I was the only one to know about this anime, much less love it so much! Tenchi, I officially declare that you have very good taste  I just *love* that last part, with the city lights. *sigh*

Infinite Ryvius. It's not often that we have hard sci-fi in anime. Think "lord of the flies" in space, on the level of Crest of the Stars. |

I was reading somewhere that someone besides Bandai was looking to pick up the movie. I am sorta hoping they don't and let Bandai do there thing because they did a good job with the series. |

I would like to see some older classic shows released on DVD.
Grandizer (that show has a special meaning for me.... some of you veterans will understand... )
Starvengers Gai King Danguard Ace Spaceketeers Starblazers is a step in the right direction though I'd like to see Space Battleship Yamato released in the original Japanese with subtitles... the TV series and movies Macross was the one I wanted most, but I've got it now so I can check that off the list. 
Captain Harlock. I know there are some new OVAs but I'm talking about the older TV show Galaxy Express 999 Area 88 acts 2 and 3 on DVD. I know they are on video, but I want dual language capabilities like on the act 1 DVD. 
Lensman. This movie is pretty spectacular as I recall. The animation combines CGI with hand drawn and it's all very fluid. The story and characters are compelling. And the soundtrack is super, especially with the a capella choral version of the title song. Nausicaa Of The Valley Of The Wind. A classic from Hayao Miyazaki... and it beats Princess Mononoke, IMO. I wish Nausicaa would have been released first but oh well. At least Laputa is next in line. Genesis Climber Mospeada. It would be nice to see this in its orginal form Megazone 23. |

That's a cool sight, as long as you don't think too hard about what you're looking at; like, how do the electric lights still work, underwater, after approximately half a century (judging from the ages of the younger versions of Oji-san and Oba-sama in the flashback in the manga) since the seas started to rise? Anyhow, YOKOHAMA KAIDASHI KIKOU is on my perennial "Wouldn't it be nice if it were licensed?" list, but if any company were to pick it up, it would be AnimEigo and they've backed off from releasing short OVA series in recent years. There's a slightly, but only slightly, better chance that Dark Horse would license the manga, perhaps for SUPER MANGA BLAST, since they've licensed a fair number other manga series from Kodansha's AFTERNOON monthly (OH MY GODDESS!, SERAPHIC FEATHER, the problematic NARUTARU (a.k.a. SHADOW STAR)), but the pace is too languid for the typical Dark Horse manga reader. The best I could probably hope for is that Pika Edition would license the manga in French; it's right up their alley. At least I have several volumes in Japanese to tide me over. (Also, by any chance, did you first see this at Anime Central at UdeM? Too bad that club's now defunct.) |
