yeah so im watching evangelion yet again, and I know that Rei is basically a clone of Shinjis mother (yes?) i forget, does Shinji ever learn that she's a clone of her? and does rei know that she's the clone of his mother? because if she does, is it just me or is it a little weird that she loves shinji in a romantic way and they're almost considered to be related in some way?

funny how they look nothing alike.
I'm not really sure if they are related or not, I more or less gave up on it by episode 20 or so, when they started just bombarding us with information I sat through it paying little attention so check out those later eps and it may be in there somewhere. |

Clone of Shinji's mother + Angel DNA from Lilith. I would say that Rei doesn't really love Shinji insofar as she can't really love anyone. Don't think Shinji finds out, though. |

spoiler[Yes, Shinji finds out that Rei is a clone of his mother in Epi 23, Akagi shows Misato and Shinji the Room of Gaf, which houses the empty vessels(Rei clones) for the dummyplug system. Shinji and Rei do not have a romantic relationship, after he finds out Rei is a clone of his mother he backs away from her. The sexual innuendo between Shinji and Rei are nominal and shown mostly in Epi 22 when Rei is attacked by Armaisael.]

Actually, they do look alike. Same eyes, other than the red colour, same hairstyle, same facial structure even. |

yeah but what about in end of evangelion? she says something like she wants become one with him or something along the lines of that, which if you ask me sounds sexual

spoiler[Rei does say that,but during EoE Rei is Lilith. For Instrumentality to be successful Shinji has to become one with Rei, to end suffering. Nothing sexual about it.]

it always seemed to me that rei was just a part of lilith that gendo made to look like shinjis mother, not that she was a clone of her.

To me anyway, there's always been quite a resemblance. And facial structure isn't just face shape. It's nose, eye shape, mouth, cheeks, chin, etc. |

I sot of see it, in the nose and facial shape, especially around the chin area. However, I might se it in the eyes, but that just seems like not the best picture of rei....at any rate, I see it now to an extent. spoiler[As it's been a while, do they ever show Asuka's mom prior to her death?] |

I was talking about rei and shinji, if they are related by blood then surely there should be some resembelence, now shinji and his father I can see. |
