I am not biased or anything, but i just wana know. I like anime because of their expressions and what the characters say. A lot of people in my school like it because they are also japanese, but im not japanese. My sister and my friends got me hooked on ANIME.

I like anime because, as a medium, it provides a number of decent stories and intriguing ideas. That said, I don't find much in anime I haven't been able to find elsewhere, in literature or comics or movies and so on. It's another medium and as another medium it has the equal opportunity of providing quality entertainment but also the opportunity of subpar entertainment. I like anime simply because I don't view it differently, it has potential and a large number of titles so that finding something that lives up to that potential is not uncommon.

I like anime because I find it not only entertaining but also thought inspiring. There are a lot of series out there that don't really make me think, and I use mostly for entertainment. Make me laugh or cry and so on. However, there are also a lot of series that really get me thinking...you know about anything related to the show, life in general, whatever.
There also seems to be so much more to anime than there is so American television. The characters are more developed, have deeper and more identifiable personalities. The plots are, overall, more interesting and more in depth. Also, there is the art. American cartoons are drawn sloppy, as if they were done, in most cases, by a gradeschooler. The level of detail is just so vastly different that watching anime is just so much more entertaining and pleasing. There's so much more to it, but i'm sure other people will be able to explain it. |

The stories tend to be really emotional and more thought out then the average americian cartoon. Plus because its not real life your not watching it and thinking that can't happen so your able to enjoy the story more.

This thread is related to why people like anime. The two threads share some commonality so I thought I'd provide the link. But in case you're too lazy to click on the link, here's a recap of my reasons for loving anime:
The plots to anime are so different from the regular stuff on tv. Seriously, I watch American tv but I can do without it. Anime, on the other hand, is able to really captivate me and it makes me want to keep watching. It has the power to make me think about it while I'm sitting in class with the boring professor talking in a monotone voice. It has the power to make me rush home after class to keep watching it. That is why I love anime. It's just so damn good! And as to why I prefer anime to manga: I personally love to read (in fact, I'm really enjoying a classic called Jude the Obscure by Thomas Hardy right now). But I prefer to watch anime mainly because it has colour, I like the Japanese voices because it adds so much more emotion to the anime (imo), I am better able to see the characters as "alive", and most importantly, because the music can stir up emotions in me. For example, when Naruto spoiler[is about to finish his fight with Gaara and is crawling towards him saying, "I understand your pain so much that it hurts",] Naruto's voice along with the flashbacks of when Gaara and Naruto were picked on as kids along with the music... man, it just took me over the top and I got a bit teary-eyed. No manga could ever do that to me. Manga's just lack emotion and such. Is anyone else like that or is it just me Last edited by prettygirl on Fri Mar 24, 2006 11:59 pm; edited 1 time in total |

Simple, more realistic action, better drama, more funny comedic situations, better art quality, and the fact that it's Japanese!

The stories often show a great deal more imagination than in the west, especially in this dry day and age. Even so, Anime originality has its limits; after exhausting nearly twenty series thus far in the past three months, I believe I am starting to notice the recycled plot devices, settings, stock characters, ect. It may be time to move on to a different region...I hear Korea is coming out with some interesting material.

Yes, the scripts these days for American cartoons are pretty dry.
There have been a lot of Koreans working on Japanese anime these days, like Transformers most of the staff are Korean. |

The reason why i like anime is because you have diffrent storylines that can differ from anime to anime.and plus the
art styles are cool too. |

I like anime because it isn't only for kids.
Anime can do things that only a big hollywood budget would otherwise accomplish. Bang for the buck principle. And yeah, the chicks are hot. |

Most of the reasons why I like anime have already been expressed, mainly by Keonyn and CyberViper. But I do have another large factor in my liking of anime. The fact that everything (generally) in a particular show looks the same. I'm having a bit of trouble explaining this, but I'll try my best. Because everything in a show is drawn, almost anything can look realistic. There can be huge robots or amazing magical effects, and they may not look very realistis, but, because they're all made of the same art design, they look realistic when compared to the rest of that particular show. I really hope that makes sense.

As long as there's still some quality anime with good stories and interesting characters I'll still be watching it. That's the main reason why I watch anime because it's better than most everything else on television.

The art involve in creating anime is what drawn me to it. The feelings portrayed through the eyes of the characters and the voice actors that gives life to it is truly remarkable. Even Quentine Tarantino finds his inspiration in anime! Didja watch Kill Bill???
