Kay all, you other Sailor Moon lovers. I have been recently rewatching Sailor Moon. Anyways here's my question or maybe I should call it speculation.

In Sailor Moon S (Third season of Sailor Moon) when Chibi-usa shows up again, spoiler[ and becomes Sailor Chibi Moon. She tells everyone that she was sent to the past to have an important encounter. ] That's how my fansubs put it anyways.

Well obviously when I first watched it, I assumed spoiler[ the important encounter was Hotaru/Sailor Saturn. The two become bestfriends and also without Chibi-usa Mistress 9 would never have been 'born'. Obvious injection isn't it?

Well now I have been wondering? Was Hotaru the important encounter Chibi Moon was sent to the past to have? I mean wouldn't she have eventually met the future Saturn? I just don't see them sending her to the past to bring about the birth of Mistress 9! ]

I have been wondering if maybe that line was foreshadowing for the next season, Sailor Moon Super S aka the Chibi-usa show. I actually love Chibi-usa thanks to spoiler[ Black Lady ] so I quite like this season!
spoiler[
Well, all of us who have watched Super S kno]
w that Chibi-usa meets spoiler[the Mysterious Pegusus, who later reveals himself to be Ellios/Hellios the high priest of Elosion/Illusion. It is also obvious that she becomes more then freinds with Hellios. So I have know concluded that it was Pegusus/Ellios/Hellios who she was sent back to meet! ]So what did you all think about it?

Where's the proff you ask. Well, if Chibi moon was sent back to make an important encounter. Then why, after the S arch ended did she not return to the future? If any of you have watched Stars. spoiler[ You would know that just as Chibi-Moon is trying to return to the future. Nelephenlina (the main villian/head villian from Super S) returns and prevents this. Then after Nelephenlina is defeated Chibi Moon returns to the future. Which leaves me to believe the encounter she was suppose to have has already happend. ]

Also, I have not read the Manga, but I have read online summeries of each off the Manga. So I know the basics. Anyways, according to this and other's I have talked with, who have read the Manga. In the Manga, spoiler[Hellios says that he knew her as a young maiden, women in the future. This leads me to believe that at least in the Manga, they have some kind of future together. ]

Or was the encounter suppose to be spoiler[with Peru, the little fairy creature that she meets in the Super S movie? Although Peru is so very cute, I just perfer her with Hellios. Although some could say she is too young for him, but well I just thought they were very sweet. Chibi-Moon appears to be about 10 in Super S, and Hellios appears to be about 14. Obvious problems, but also remeber that she is from the future, and might be way older! Where Peru, appeared to be more like her age. ]

So, am I just as bored and reading to much into this, or am I onto something.

1. The Supers movie is an original story that was created for the anime and is out of canon in the Sailor Moon timeline, so anything that happens in it is irrellevant to the rest of the plot. 2. The official subtitled version says it would create "valuable encounters". Mamoru even says in episode 104 that Chibi-usa must've been lonely in the future. Chibi-usa was sent in the past not solely to make friends with Hotaru, but to make as many friends as she could. Furthermore, even if Chibi-usa had made friends with Hotaru in the future, she wouldn't have gone through all the trials that she did and their friendship wouldn't have become as strong as it is. Also, it was the Outer Soldiers' mission to protect the outer solar system from outside invaders, hence why they were given powers stronger than the other Inner Soldiers, so Hotaru probably didn't even have time to become friends with Chibi-usa because she's out protecting the outer solar system from outside invaders with the other Outers.

Well when it comes to Sailor Moon, I do not give lots of credit to the offical North American releases. Since well, look what they did with the dub's! Infact Sailor Moon, is one off the only series where I feel the Fan subs are better then the orginal releases. The dubs/subs off the orginal North American releases, have made so much horriable changes, from Characters names, sexes and even story lines/elements. If you refering to the offical Japense releases, well since I can not understand japeanse I have not seen them, So I base my question on what the Fansubs in Japense with English subtittles have said. So I apoligse in advance for disagreeing with you.

Now, onto my point. I wasn't saying that Saturn wasn't important, or her relationship with CHibi moon was not important. You brought up alot of interesting points about the outter senshi being away from the inner senshi. But still I believe that Saturn would still come in to contact with Chibi Moon. I also agree that without that time to build a friendship and live throuth those things they would not be as close. So yes obviously this was an important encouter and was an important frienship. However, what I was simply stating in my opionion, going with what my Fansub said, spoiler[ about A important encounter, that they were refering to Hellios.]

I agree with everything you said about Peru.

I never said it wasn't offical. I just said I don't give them to much credit.I am sorry if I upset you but I never said that the N.A release was not offical. I also own/have seen some of the Uncut offical NA releases, and they are still have problems!! I am sorry but in my opionion, regarding Sailor Moon, The fansubs are way better. Like I said in my earlier post they butcherd this show. Besides, I could be WRONG, but I heard, that the reason the lisence has fallen, was because the Creator of Sailor Moon, Naoko Takeuchi (spelling?) was unhappy with what North America did with Sailor Moon.

I also think that in my first post, I gave reasons for my believe, that it was spoiler[ Hellios that was her 'important encounter, and not Saturn. I also gave suggestions in my last post that I do believe that her relationship with Saturn was special and improtant but according to the Sailor Moon I have, she was sent back for one encounter. The fact alone that she does not leave until after the Super S arch shows alone that this was not Saturn. I also gave the reasons earlier why she didn't leave right away in Stars.].

Besides, I did not start this thread to start anything I was just wondering what other people thought about that part, and I wanted to hear there reasons behind that. Kouji gave a good example on this, and I replied to that example saying that I respected Kouji's ideas but I disagreed.

Your getting your information all misinformed. First of all, the last season isn't out because Toei(The Japanese company) 1) Didn't want to ruin the "Family" image on the Sailor Moon franchise here. 2) Last season has males changing to felmale characters, that's not going to fly. 3) They spent their money funding the Live-Action series.

I would love to know how the subtitles of the uncut DVDs here were handled "wrong." You still have the Japanese voices, uncut episodes, and etc.

*sigh* Just don't feel the support of the official stuff here...

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the subtitles of the uncut DVDs, they are accurate translations. While of course the dub is still there (and hilariously/horribly bad), the Japanese version is as accurate as you are going to get. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it, as long as you are getting the uncut DVDs.

Sorry but that was what I was told about the reason why Stars was never released here and why N.A companies can't get the rights renewed. Though I believe ANN had something about Toyoko Pop maybe renewing the Manga Lisence, That would be awsome. As for why Sailor Stars isn't released In N.A, Your reason doesn't really make sense, why would they care? It's more money right! If anything I would see the N.A company not wanting to release Stars because of the skimpy clothes the villians and the starlights wear. Not to mention the whole, Starlight hemadite(sp?) thing, he he. How else would explain it. Also what does the Japanese company funding the Life action show have to do with The N.A market not having acess to Stars unless it is Fan subs? That just doesn't make sense. Now, Regarding my lack of love for the North American releases, well time after time they have proven that they have ruined my favorite show. SO why would I like them. Come on Sailor Mini Moon, how lame is that. Why did they need to change the characters names, sexes, even key elements of the story. Why would I want to watch that? When I can watch a Fan sub that stuck truer to the orginal concept?

Now, you are rigth at least the UNCUT N.A releases didn't pull stuff like this, however, do you know how impossible it is to find them. I have been looking for years to find them, and all I can find is either the Dub which I refuse to buy, or nothing at all! I do own some of the offical releases, I own all the movies, (the changed the animation for the movies opening theme by the way! It's a mirrage off all three movies.)I also have the first volume of Super S. I will be buying the rest of Super S off of Ebay, but I am very sceptical to shop on Ebay. However, I feel I have no choice, since I want to transform all my Sailor Moon to DVD. So yes even though I do not like the dubs, and perfer fansubs, if I could find the Uncut NA release I would buy it.

Wow, aren't you late for Toei and their big "mistakes." Here is some food for thought:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toei_Animation#Controversy_regarding_Toei_Animation
Quote:
In addition to this, Toei also revoked the rights to the Sailor Moon anime series in the US (and by extension, the UK prints of the dubbed version) shortly after Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon began in Japan with no given explanation as to why. It has also been noted that Toei refuses to allow the final season of Sailor Moon (“Sailor Stars”) to be seen in the West, due its somewhat controversial new characters, the Sailor Starlights. It is worth noting that Toei and Sailor Moon's creator, Naoko Takeuchi (who was involved with Toei's live-action version of Sailor Moon), are currently engaged in a copyright dispute and that this could be the reason why the fifth season has not had a chance to be licensed, and/or why all U.S. licenses were revoked, this argument, however, does not hold much water as the R2 (Japanese) boxsets are still being sold in Japan.

And your still talking about the editted show, why not talk about the UNCUT stuff? Why still linger to that as an excuse to not think of the official R1 UNCUT DVDs? Last time I checked, "Mini" is a translation of "Chibi", what is the problem here?[/quote]

Well, to go back to the reason why Chibi-Usa came back to the 20th/21st century, (if I remember correctly) in the manga there were not that many children in 30th century Crystal Tokyo. The assumption being since people were longer lived, they waited longer to have children. That's in my opinion at least.

In the anime, as to why Neo-Queen Serenity sent Chibi-Usa back? Well, it could be the above suggestions (Hotaru and Helios), my own suggestion of needing to meet/be with people her own age and/or a combination of all three. Just think of how lonely it would be if you're the only kid around and no one to play with, share feelings with and only adults around who have more important things or responsibilities to do than to constantly play with a child? That would be a very difficult, lonely and isolated existence. Since Chibi-Usa will one day be Queen, she has to be able to connect and communicate with those around her. And the only way she going to be able to do that is if Neo-Queen Serenity sends her back to Usagi and the others.

Hope I made sense but that's my input.

As for Toei - they're stupid and are cutting off their nose to spite their face. I hope the dispute between Toei and Takeuchi-san is resolved and Sailor Moon once again graces our shores, TV screens and DVD shelves. Sailor Moon was what got me into anime and is/would be a wonderful starter anime to get others involved in our addiction.

That is a horrendously poorly written article. Parts of it are just angry fanboy/fangirl rants. I just made some minor changes to it to make it more neutral.

I think that generally the Stars season just wouldn't fit with how the English version of Sailor Moon was marketted (ie how it was turned into a show for 8 year old girls). The Starlights would be next to impossible to explain (unless you went with the really bad concept that one version did, or so I heard, where they had the female Starlights be the magical twin sisters of the male Three Lights). Also, the relationship between Haruka and Michiru comes off a bit more strongly than it did in the S season, thus making the "cousins" explanation hold even less water. Basically, due to the content, this season wouldn't work with the current English release so I think they just wouldn't bother.

LydiaDianne, You bring up some very intersting points. I could only imangine how lonely Chibi-Usa must have felt in the future, without any other children to be around. This will also explain why she so desperatlly wanted to grow up. I often found her to, for the most part more mature then Usagi,(I am talking S and up here) and she often seemed to be wise for her young age. I don't know why I never thought off that.

Haterater, I told you why I did not like the UNCUT offical releases, they are almost impossible to find, except for on E-bay which I do not like to use, since there possiblity off them selling stuff that is not offical. Also, I am sorry if my blandt hate for the cut dubs upsets you, but it's just how I feel. As for what's wrong with Mini Moon, it just sounds stupid, Chibi-Usa is my favorite character, and I just don't like the name Rini or Mini Moon. However, to further prove my point better, regarding the UNCUT offical N.A releasse, (Maybe my dvd was defective or something) The opening squence off Sailor Moon Super S, the Pegasus collection- The Uncut edition Vol. 1, has the Amazon Quarette instead of the Amazon trio (in the song), also they refered to Fish eye as a she, where in the Japense version Fish eye is a he. So once again they were changing the sexes of the characters. Like I said I could just have a defectaive DVD. I do not have the rest of Super S, in the offical release, so it is possible. Okay maybe I am being too nickpicky, so they have the Amazon Quartte instead of the trio in the opening song, big deal! But, keeping Fish Eye a girl, when it's suppose to be an Uncut edition, well in my books that's strike two.

Wolverine Princes, I agree with your assumptions about that article. It felt like I was reading something that was hastly put together. I also do not see the logic in them not allowing the N.A companies to regain the rights to the first four seasons, if Stars was the reason for the release to fall.

marie-antoinette, I do agree the Starlights would be hard to 'write off', and the idea of making them the female twins off the male pop stars is just, well very lame. As for the Uranus and Neptune are cousins thing, that still ticks me off, and well I do not see how they could label them as cousins because of this part spoiler[ When Galixia takes their star seeds, and the die reaching for eachother, then finally having their hands graze eachother just to fade away. Anyone watching that would have to be really naive to not see their love.]

However, they could get around that by doing an Uncut subtitled version, and have none off this stuff changed, and released on DVD only for the adult fans who would want it. I would buy it for sure.

Now regarding the reason I thought that it was Sailor Moon's creator that did not want N.A to renew their lisence and have Star's relseased here. I found some more talk off this on ANN, in this thread...Talkback -> Conventions - Anime Next. It is obvious by some off the other members replies that I am not the only one to believe that. If I misinterpted this information, then I apoligse in advance.

Mistress 9.

Twin sisters? I agree VERY lame.

You're also right about the "cousins" explanation no longer holding water for the Sailor Stars release. That's why I keep hoping for a complete re-dub if and when it's rereleased. If not that then simply a re-release of the sub-titled version of Sailor Stars. I'd like to get rid of the bootleg I have of it. I keep feeling guilty about it. Embarassed Rolling Eyes

Though I generally do not support bootlegs, in cases where it's the only thing available, I personally wouldn't mind one myself. As long as it had DVD quality footage that is.
