What is up with Netflix, Hulu and Crackel only putting up new subtitled
Anime?. I fired Hulu and Netflix because all their new Anime is subtitled rather than Dubbed when this restricts the people watching to only those that can read English fast enough to enjoy the show as well as reading the text. I cant read that fast any more and it eliminates anybody that can speak English but not read English. I have subscribed to Anime network and Funimation because it seems they are trying to put up as many Dubbed show as they can for Hulu, NetFlix and Crackel to do this seems backwards to me and will not expand the watchers of amime but limit it.

usually on netflix the subtitled is just the primary viewing but if you check under audio/subtitles you can sometimes change it (its weird when you have both english because they dont match lol)

I'm pretty sure the only anime on Netflix right now that's sub ONLY is Tokyo Godfathers (movie) and one of the Digimon shows. Every other show/movie has the option for dub (with some not even having a Japanese language option at all). In fact, most shows automatically default to the dub track. I use a PS3 and have never had a problem. Every now and then, though, a show that I'm watching dubbed will suddenly be on the sub option the next time I open Netflix, but I can quickly change it back to the dub. What interface are you using?

What show was it on Netflix that had the problem?
I don't get why people are having such trouble switching to Dub, you aren't the only one I've seen around the net complaining...

I watch netflix, hulu and crackle on my Roku and my Sony TVnetwork there is no option for languages on them. I don't like watching shows on my laptop or ipad unless i have to. the web viewer for netflix may have a language choice i haven't used it. on both the Roku and Sony TV it is set to English but it doesn't help. if the streamers have a choice they should default to dubbed and the subtitled as a choice.

I'm finding it hard to believe that the PS3 and 360 apps for Netflix are so different from other apps that they're the only ones that support language changes (I know portables don't support profiles, but that's newer).
Here, lemme check my 3DS. When I load something in the 3DS, it takes me to a page where I can play, add to queue (or remove), go back, or the subtitle|audio page, which defaults to English/no subs. Given that the 3DS app is incredibly primitive, I'm finding it even more difficult to believe that Roku wouldn't have the options.
On my PS3/360, easiest way to access the menu is to pause, and then it gives you the option for the subtitle|audio menu.
Given that Netflix has been sued for not offering captioning (which is also found in the subtitle|audio menu), the menu is there available to you, you're just not finding it.

That's odd...
It's set to English and it's still not in English?
I use the PS3, Computer and a Samsung for Netflix so... Can't really give any suggestions on how to make it work.
I agree that it should default to Dub though, certainly since Netflix's subtitles are atrocious.

There's an upsurge of subtitled anime on Hulu in particular due to simulcasting, which always* happens long before a dub can be created. FUNimation also has a habit of only making a few dubbed episodes available outside it's own Elite service because, while it would prefer you to watch its own legal streams rather than fansubs, they would still rather prefer you get the DVDs.
* IIRC there was one exception, but I can't recall the name.
