"It has over 48 million copies in circulation as it approaches its 35th anniversary."

Pretty sure 1995-2014 is 19 years, so Initial D would be approaching its 20th Anniversary. Wink

This looks to be a retelling of the story rather than a continuation.

Don't know if want.

Even if it is, it'd be like 1st stage getting reanimated. The CG car animation of 1st stage is pretty laughable by today's standards and I'd love to see a new animation of it, be it altered storyline or not.

Dave Rodgers - Space Boy (Grand Mix) first song in the movie including the minute of slow piano intro. Very Happy

Any new Initial D is always welcome. It breaths new life into the franchise for potentially new viewers/fans and it recaptures the story, character development, art, character design for the current and older fans.

If they release this with english subtitles on Blu Ray, after they finish their thater run, I'll certainly be importing this and the other two films as well.

And let's be honest, who doesn't LOVE the super eurobeat music to this franchise? There's nothing like driving and listening to this music. Especially if you own a car that's manual and you imagine yourself as one of the characters.

In Japan it's fine to announce a movie, 6 months before it comes out? in the USA movies are announced 3-4 maybe even 5 years in advance.

Once the previous teaser made it clear that the upcoming film would be a re-telling of the manga's first few races/arcs, I figured it was meant to be the first of many, but I'm surprised that they've already planned a trilogy. I suppose it's possible to cover the whole pre-Project D era in just three movies, but I hope they'll go further than that.

What I'd really like to see announced, though, is Final Stage's release date. A Fifth Stage BD-box would be nice, too.

The art feels very Season 1 and the engine sound is definitely the stock engine, not the Group A engine that they put in halfway through the second season.

You know, I bet if they cut out all of the endless recaps, the whole of the first season would fit into one movie Smile
