I checked out the extras, and they had Shana-tan video 1 and 2. I just wanted to let other people know, I found them really amusing. I was also really surprised to see they had dubbed them in English.

I dunno if this is a bad reflection on the show or not, but:
...
I think I enjoyed the Shana-tan shorts more than the actual conclusion of the show...
Though, I kinda disliked the fact that they completely beat that joke about Yuji's crotch, Yoshida's rack and Yoshida's ever-changing dog into the damn ground.
...
They milked the hell outta that one joke.

Bad pun there, DKL.
Yeah, I loved the Shana-Tan videos except for that part of it. I also utterly fail to understand how that got subbed and dubbed when the textless closer for the final episode (which was painfully obscured by text) didn't.

I thought the shana-tan video was pretty funny especially when shana-tan got mad at yoshida and swung her mini sword at her. I wondered if yoshida can stop shana-tan's sword than what would happen with the denizens (sorry if that's mispelled).

Wow, I didn't even realize it was a pun until you brought it up.

I myself had a hard time finding said pun for a little while.
Anyway, I was very surprised to find the Shana-tan shorts on the DVD and to make it even better they were both dubbed. Nice little bonus tacked on to the best volume in the entire series. Both were pretty funny in how it they parodied moments from the TV series. The first one was best though, despite it's length. In the second one it seemed like they ran out of ideas, which was very annoying.

Really? I like this series a lot, but I'm rating the regular episode content in vol. 6 as one of the weaker volumes in the series in the review I'm writing right now. Although the writing handled certain points well, the story did not do anything impressively new, different, or unpredictable.
Enh, it was still a pretty good close out for the first season. Looking forward to the second season this fall.

I didn't even understand the joke about Yuji's crotch and Kazumi's rack. I mean of course I saw what they were showing, it was obvious. But I didn't find it funny and I don't understand if there is a joke behind it or not, so that scene just seemed dumb to me.
The first Yuji crotch scene though WAS funny. The one where Kazumi was looking through the eyeglass.
Key, if it makes you feel any better I bet you can make such a video yourself by extracting the audio streams and replacing it in the extras version, or something like that.
In Shakugan no Shana-tan I liked how Shana-tan says "Urushai! Urushai! Urushai! Urushai! Urushai! Urushai!..." it is much better than when she says 3 Urusais in the normal show, which kinda sounds dumb to me as an outsider/foreigner.

I think Mamiko Noto's "vessel touching" made up for any other weaknesses it may have had.

Apart from the actual plot, I never really understood the Naze Nani shorts either...

Speaking of our sweet and pure Hecate, has Geneon said anything more about getting the Hecate-tan short? I read a while back on the AoD forum that they were trying for it, but I never read a confirmation. (With the OVA and art box coming, it'd make a great extra!)

If they've been able to get it, they haven't said anything. The problem is that it was an extra in a book or a magazine, so there are extra people to go through in order to get it or there may be contract issues that cause problems.

I was just thinking that since they managed to get the Shana-tans which, unless I grossly misunderstood, were released through the same magazine as the Hecate-tan short, that there was a decent to good chance they'd be able to get it too. They took a while to get the Shana-tans and I'm more than willing to wait a little longer to get the Hecate-tan. (Plenty of time before the OVA gets released.)
I just figured, if they have it and the OVA, not to mention the art box, that it would all add up to be a truly delightful purchase.
My philosophy is a business should always seek to please fans before all other concerns, because you can't turn a profit if no one wants to buy your product. Of course, common sense limits must be applied. I just feel like Geneon is trying very hard to please Shana fans and I hope they can continue to live up to this high standard they're setting. (Shana must be selling well. I can't imagine them putting so much effort in otherwise for bonus content.)
I was looking through my anime collection not too long ago and I have a very large number of Geneon released series. I like the way they do things most of the time. I want to keep liking them and that's why I want them to get the Hecate-tan short.
I've never actually seen it, but I loved the Shana-tans. Some may not have enjoyed the second one as much, but the idea of little Shana-tan making doggy barbecue and poor Alastor's misery had me in stitches.

Well, it is just my opinion, but I said that because I loved volume 6 more than any of the previous volumes. It really kept me on the edge of my seat for pretty much the entire time, which was something the previous volumes hadn't done nearly as well. Yes, it's true that it wasn't highly original, as there were quite a few predictable events, but in spite of that I still loved this volume the most.
I'm looking forward to the second season as well. I can't wait for "round 2" between Shana and Kazumi.

If Wikipedia is correct, the Shana-tan OVAs came in the Limited Edition versions of certain volumes of the R2 DVDs.

Having Hecate-tan as a bonus for the OVA would be utterly awesome.

Geneon has had their share of disappointments as of late (especially for dub fans), but Shana certainly isn't one of them.

I think half of the series I am currently collecting are from Geneon. And that doesn't look like it will be changing anytime soon.
