Without thinking very hard, this news item raises more questions than it answers.
It's only for four months. But it's not right away. And it's to NYC. And in 2012 she couldn't speak English at Otakon (although I suppose she could have learned in the last 4 years). If her agency had just announced she'd be taking a break for a few months (no mention of studying, no mention of NYC), it would have been less mysterious. |

Should be pointed out that she is scheduled to appear at Animazement in two months...whatever is in the works, I hope it turns out well.

My guess is this is part of a plan to revive her career. Haven't heard her in too many series lately, loved her as Konata.

The only thing that makes sense to me is that she's going to improve her English. In which case 4 months with intensive classes could be very beneficial on that front.

I for one cannot imagine any possible reason why a woman who had her career derailed because a tabloid revealed she was sexually active could possibly have for not wanting to live in Japan. |

Why? A person who is an actress and a singer says that she is going to study in a place that is famous for teaching acting and singing. Why would you wonder about a "true motive"? |

Well, if Hirsano-san can improve her English and become a good Hollywood actress, she could be earning a salary measured in the millions of US dollars for each role she plays--especially if she becomes popular on this side of the Pacific, where scandals are not as detrimental to an artistic career as it is in Japan, in my humble opinion.

My Japanese teacher just emailed the class saying that Aya Hirano is going to study at our school for a few months. This sucks because I'm going to study abroad in Japan pretty soon at just about the same time she's coming here! The freakin irony.
