Sand Chronicles is alright in the drama department, but the easy-going nature of the main character seems to hurt the realism. It's not a bad read so far, but it's no replacement for Nana.

That sounds great! I really do enjoy Sand Chronicles, though I haven't read too much of it yet. It's definitely my favourite new addition to Shojo Beat (though I do have to agree that I like NANA better, but it's still early in SC's run).
