this will be the sleeper hit of the spring. it will be dwarfed by titans (in more than one way), but if it's anything like the 1st season it will be a delight to watch. i can't wait.

I'm excited for it. Will be so great to see all the old cast again, and the new cast look pretty cool.

This show is s-o-o-o-o Kyoto. Someone should put together a Tanuki's guide to the city (the first season's eye-catches had maps showing where the action was taking place).
I don't know which I want to do more: watch this show or take another trip back to Kyoto (after a repeat viewing of the first season). Yen Press, why haven't you licensed these novels yet (and the novels that inspired Tatami Galaxy, too). |

It really is a shame it'll be in the same season as so much other good and popular stuff. If it aired this season I feel it would have a much better chance to be something special that people remember and that stands out. |

I'm really happy this series is getting a sequel. I don't know whether I'll enjoy the fact there'll be more familial matters being left unsaid, but at least we get to see more of Kouji Kumeta's character designs in Kyoto.
(I hope we at least get a resolution of Kasei's relationships with the Shimogamo brothers.) |

More adorable tanuki and the creepy humans who want to *eat* them for some reason! Also, tengu--I like the look of Junior, though I wonder how he can just float straight upwards.
spoiler[Why is the second brother still in frog form? Thought he was able to go back to normal at the end of last season.] |

spoiler[Really? I recall he was still a frog. I think he did get out of the well though.] |

Kyoto and P.A. Works are basically doing something similar, if not exactly that, now that the anime is an official Kyoto Goodwill Ambassador. The details aren't all there yet, but you can read our article here, it details more about the collaborations: animenewsnetwork.com/interest/2017-01-12/the-eccentric-family-anime-to-serve-as-special-goodwill-ambassador-for-kyoto/.110879 |

Ooooh, I feel like smiling the whole pv
Can't wait. I wonder if it still follows the story of the novel, though. |

They made a map of sites from the show around Kyoto when the first season aired. I visited Kyoto in 2016 and had to rely on a photo someone had taken of the map to figure out where stuff is. I went to Bon Bon's and took pictures, I went to their shrine and I went to where the frog in the well is, but I wasn't able to get a look at the actual well because it was closed off. I would love to go back to Kyoto while it's still in Uchouten Kazoku mode with season 2, because it'd be much more fun than going there a few years later during Golden Week
I'm assuming spoiler[he just enjoys it more? After staying in that form for so long, I guess he got used to it.]
I think the author essentially wrote the second novel just for the anime, and is working on a third, so it should theoretically follow it closely (I don't know how close the first season was though, so I may be wrong). |
