Meanwhile there's still no US release for it. Saban is done with the license so why hasn't someone else grabbed it?

I knew that this would last 52 episodes! Now the question is whether or not there will be a sequel series.

It hasn't even been a year since Appli Monsters premiered in Japan, so let's have some patience. I'm pretty sure Toei is planning some sort of US release. Perhaps they're smelling a huge mass-market potential for Appli Monsters and are in negotiations with a variety of companies, like a toy company, in an attempt to give it a big-scale release here. That's what happened with Yo-Kai Watch and it paid off very, very well.

Could have been putting your money to good use by making a Cyber Sleuth-esque anime.

I haven't seen much Yo-Kai Watch merchandise at the Walmart where I live, so it's apparently not very popular with people who aren't otaku. And yet, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and SpongeBob SquarePants merchandise is everywhere, not to mention merchandise based on Frozen still sells like hot cakes.

Fusion was a flop and this is aimed squarely at a pretty difficult market to get into.

Maybe it depends on the area. My second job is at Toys R Us and our dedicated Yokai Watch section is still going whereas we haven't had any noteworthy amount of Spongebob toys in years.
Also, I would say popularity comparisons is kinda unfair if you're bringing up Frozen. That film KINDA made a massive amount of money.
