Anyone know if it's shorts because there's not enough source material for a full season?

Thanks for the question! The official website lists the series as having 10-minute episodes.

We'll update our article.

Just another reason why Japan does not believe yuri will sell. At least I am glad this "yuri" anime will flop. Honestly, as a yuri fan, I do not like this series one bit.

Well, Citrus anime, you are the yuri fans' only hope.

The last time a yuri anime broke 10k disc sales was 2004, and that was an adaptation of an already well known (40+ volume!) light novel franchise.

It's going to be a while before we see a phenomenon that big again.

*sigh* 10 minute episodes, huh? Had a feeling we were gonna get shorter episodes, but hey it's better than only 3-5 minutes.

I'll be honest I haven't heard good things about this one, but I'm still very curious. Much more excited for Citrus, whenever that's coming.

The real bummer is that Netsuzou Trap WON'T get its own entry in ANN's Summer Preview guide. I am very curious what star rating it'll get from the users and what the reviewers will rate. Laughing

The very idea of what yuri is and who it is aimed for feels like in a state of flux especially if you count Marimite as yuri title. Compared to BL where it is well-defined and knows what their fanbase wants. You can say the same to even moe titles or isekai titles.

Though god-forbid Netsuzou Trap sets the standard. Anime cry

But I wouldn't lose hope since Citrus is coming (and frankly relatively better) and definitely pay attention to Bloom into You's activity since I heard that's been doing really well among Dengeki Daioh's audiences.

Wait, I'm curious.

It'll be shorts because there isn't enough material for a full season yet?

Also, I understand that NTR isn't your traditional yuri series. But can anyone here share insight on what problems this series has? I kinda get that it's uncomfortable. But there must be reason why it's chosen to be adapted as an anime in the first place, right?

Sorry. I'm not exactly a yuri fan, but back then I was sorta impressed with Marimite. (God, that was ages ago!)

Most criticisms of the manga take a form similar to what Erica Friedman had to say about the series back in 2015:

Quote:
Top story today, Seven Seas continues it’s tradition of licensing only the vilest, least consensual, most dysfunctional stories to be found in Comic Yuri Hime, with NTR -Netsuzou Trap, a series about two girls with boyfriends who have public, mostly non-consensual sex for no goddamn good reason.

[...]

NTR is not erotic, not melodrama. It’s not a cute story with a lot of service, it’s a unpleasant story about girls cheating on their boyfriends with each other, with one girl coercing the other to have sex with her, chapter after chapter.

To be honest, Netsuzou is a worthless waste of space joke to the yuri genre. I am very happy this is a short anime. I do not regret not reading the manga.

It's marketed to the "hey, wouldn't it be hot if your girlfriend made out with another chick?" segment of the Japanese yuri fanbase, for whom the criticisms most frequently leveled against the series are non-issues.

It runs in a popular yuri magazine that contains a variety of content for both male and female yuri fans, which speaks more to darkchibi07's earlier assertion that the yuri genre is in a state of flux than anything.

10 minutes and a terrible premise=Pass

Can we have another WAFFy yuri like Sakura Trick or something light hearted and/or super fanservicey you know something that Takaki would make, I wouldn't mind another Valkyrie Drive season or spinoff.
