I love that Free! is just as much fanservice as it is cute boys pursuing their interests/doing cute things, but it is refreshing to have something purely cute boys doing cute things.

I didn't know that Japanese archery was a "cute thing".

Well, it's not so much a cute thing. In some of the cases with moe girls, it's not cute things they're doing either. It's just called that because the slice-of-life aspect (and characterization) give it that appeal. I also mention "pursuing their interests" the first time I said because of that fact.
I guess we'll see how much this leans toward Sanrio Danshi vs Free! though. Free! was definitely more moe, surprisingly. It seems like they have a guy or two here that will help keep the moe trend.
