Regardless if it's a demotion or promotion, it's odd both ways, well unless they're trying to slowly break up NGT48 as it's becoming a bit of a media circus. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if the group broke up if the lawyers and investigators do find idol involvement in this case.

It looks like the manager failed so badly at his job that he got promoted. I usually prefer to wait for the police investigation to finish but the talent agency seems to be going out of their way to make questionable decisions. The manager supposedly didn't ban the two guys from the idol events until after the internet backlash, the cancellation of that group's performances later this month is starting to look suspicious, and now the talent agency has promoted the manager to the board.
