I'm glad they made a public announcement about this. Shows that they actually pay attention and care about their audience (or, care about the audience's money).

Might as well just quote myself from one of the previous articles.

Honestly though, I expected this statement to come a little earlier, but I guess I can understand them wanting to take their time with this one.

I never really cared for him as a voice actor, anyway (I'll admit my bias), but now I can also see he's not such a great person, either (which didn't concern me until the current wave of accusations made it impossible to ignore). Maybe he can approach them again after some counseling for his boundary issues. But not for a long while. Be better, Vic.

I imagine that the fan rage of the Vic cultists at Monica Rial and Jamie Marchi will only intensify after this announcement. Somebody already threatened Monica's life. I just can't understand what people think an already celebrated and prolific voice actor stands to gain from wrecking the career of another. They were both in that new DB movie, do you think she wants the movie associated with this mess? Of course not.

What a mess.

I was expecting this to happen, and I’m quite pleased with Funimation’s decision.

Farther back than that, actually.

I believe one dated back to about 1989.

I'm upset that it took them this long. This shit's been known for yeeeeaaaars. I've even seen it firsthand.

The way I see it, there are only two likely possibilities.

1. Vic overstepped his boundaries because he's far too naive, but should have known better as an adult and never corrected his behavior over the years.

2. Vic is a narcissist who thought he could get away with this forever while knowing it was wrong.

Either way, as a company, Funimation is well within their right to cut ties with someone so problematic. Vic should know better. Whether he's a monster or just a mess of a person, he dug his own grave. It'll be awkward hearing Broly as someone else, but it's possible Vic isn't TOTALLY out of the anime scene. Bang Zoom never released a statement, right?

Someone dug through the ANN archives of 2007.

Well...that's that then. I'm sure some Evangelical company will pick him up somewhere.

Seriously. I wonder wtf he did exactly to Monica Rial?

I'm also seriously scared for the Funi staff as I'm sure the folks on twitter are probably taking this news as calmly as possible

Rolling Eyes

Also ANN, I'm a little frightened for you guys too. After seeing some of the ninnies that want to turn this into some kind of cause celebre on twitter, I hope you guys get some security, along with Funimation and the VAs that have come out against VM.

Such a shame that it turned out like this. I hope he learns from this and trys to redeem himself because this will follow him everywhere, not just in this industry.

Damn. I knew it was going to come to this, but it still pains me. Vic has been one of those anime actors who, like many others, absolutely loved his roles for almost five years of being an anime fan. That said, I’m also the kind of person who tries to separate the role from the person, and this should be no exception. I hope, given the RELATIVE lack of severity in his actions (in that this probably won’t constitute jail time), he can reform himself and eventually come back. It’ll take years for that to happen, especially given how long he’s already been doing this, but I believe everyone deserves a second chance AFTER receiving a punishment, and I would say that even if he weren’t famous.

I know I’m saying the impossible, but let’s all just take some time to reflect. That’s the best we can do in such a situation.

Re-read the part of the tweet that mentioned an internal investigation.
