I don't think this is a particularly "trolly" thing. Even before the Covid-19 mess of the spring anime season, anime were running into delays and falling behind all the time due to the practice of finishing episodes only a week ahead, sometimes only days before airing. And this doesn't even get into the stress and overwork thrown on the backs of the artists and animators trying to hit such narrow deadlines. Not just because of Covid, but for all the other multitude of potential causes for delay and problems, it's for the best that studios get more into the habit of completing their planned run of episodes before the air-date of the first episode. It'll likely be a very good day for anime and its fans when the idea of a series being "done" before the first air date is so mundane and ordinary it's no longer newsworthy.

yup. it was pretty hectic to work on subtitle translation for simulcast 2-3 years ago.
I really hope things will change soon.
