I just hope nobody will fall into a manhole because of some collectors have stolen the manhole cover.

I saw recently on "George" Morikawa's twitter that there are Hajime no Ippo manhole covers installed somewhere. After doing some research, it looks like there are a lot of manga/anime manhole covers throughout Tokyo, as part of a the 'metropolitan government’s design manhole subsidy program'.

Valid concern, but if Japan's covers are anything like the US.. that would be quite the effort. Weight depends on dimensions but it is not uncommon for them to weigh 200+ lbs.
